I love maxine, don't u?? I have a maxine clock. Yesterday i took it down to clean it & when i hung it back up it quit working. . As long as it laying in the chair but when i hang it up it quits. go figure.. I really have more things to happen around here than i need. lol. I guess cleaning is not what maxine wanted. Can anyone figure out why maxine is acting up w/me when i am such a fan of hers??

Well - knowing Maxine , I think that she needs a coffee, a pack of ciggies, prozac and her laptop before she can get going! Ohm, and if you try to get her going in the evening then give her a good shot of whisky first! Seriously I did not know that there was such a thing as a MAXINE CLOCK. I would love to have one of those. I am such a fan of hers. So if you can get her started tell her hello from me!

You say when you lay her down on a chair she works, but when you put her on the wall, she doesn't. This makes me think that maybe you are having the same problem I have with my wall clock. I'm assuming it's hung up on a nail? If so, when you hang it back up, you need to make sure the entire back of the clock is flush to the wall and not leaning forward to any degree. Clocks like this need to be completely straight up and down in order for the arms of the clock to tick around the surface in tune with the gravitational pull. If the clock is tilting at all, even just a tiny bit, it will slow down or not work at all. If this isn't your problem, change the batteries, hang it flush to the wall and if it still doesn't work, it may be time to retire the poor girl, or replace the little mechanical box on the back..........I love Maxine. I hope you solve your problem. Hugs.

Just had another thought Jo.........when you cleaned her, did you touch the arms of the clock at all? The ones that keep the time I mean. If so, check them to make sure they are not touching each other. This will stop them from going around. They are delicate and very fussy and Maxine is probably cursing at them right now! LOL

LOL. You are welcome, welcome, welcome! Check the nail every once in awhile and make sure the clock is always hanging straight up and down. Gravity is a powerful force and affects everything...... Glad to know she's working better now.

Aunty, I have not the slightest clue what a maxine clock is so you will need to enlighten me on that one, is it like a cukoo clock? Does it need new batteries? I will have to find out what it is tomorrow though as it's sleep time here. Night.

My kitchen clock does the same thing every once in a while. Each and every time it was battery related. If the battery is old and too weak, it will only work when it's lying flat on the table. I think that's because it doesn't need as much effort to work against gravity (because when I put it back up on the wall, it stops on the upsweep.) I had a problem with it once too where the battery holder wasn't tight enough. By that I mean those little prongy things that hold the battery in place. There's a coil end, and a flat end, where the battery sits, and the flat end got pushed in too much and it wasn't making proper contact. When that happened I took a little tool and gently forced it back 'out' so it could make better contact. Geez, I love Maxine too! I had no idea there was a Maxine clock out, Cool!!

Thanks for your response Joy, sparks solved the problem. The clock has to be flush w/the wall . Once i worked on the nail & hung it up it's doing fine. I am a big maxine fan, she reminds me of myself & my honeriness most of the time, lol. I have had the clock for years, have a maxine doll, calender & another maxine piece. Most of them have been given to me as gifts, i did buy the clock. Happy days to u.

Hi Jo! Who doesn't love Maxine? LOL She tells it just like it is! I love getting emails on her, she makes me laugh! Especially at times when I need it most! Did you ever get her to keep time for you? I think she's just testing you out to see how much patience you have. lol Maybe if you shake a finger at her and tell her how you feel, she just might get off of that chair of hers, get dressed and get to working again! LOL Hugs to you Jo!!

Sounds like maxine is being a witch. Maybe if you tell her how pretty she is now, she'll straighten up. I can't imagine why she's acting up because you cleaned her. Maybe the you should get a nice smelling man to come in and check her out..hehe

Hi Jo! I wish I could help you but the main thing I wanted to say was you sound a lot like me these days, lol! It seems like there's always something that needs to be fixed around here and I'm always concerned that it might cost me an arm and a leg. Sometimes it does, too. I had to have my refrigerator worked on today because it got to where it wasn't cooling like it should. I was afraid I was going to have to have a new one because this one is probably about twenty years old or older. I'm just glad it didn't cost me as much as I thought it would. First the water problem and now this!I knew you killed your dishwasher not too long ago and now your clock is giving you problems. At least it's not a major appliance like a dishwasher, refrigerator, water, or whatever. I just hope you can get it fixed. Kathy.

I do adore Maxine, but she can be a bit...um cranky at times lol. Perhaps the clock is protesting being moved about. Is it a plug-in or battery type? Sounds like a loose connection of some sort somewhere. :)) Karen

Hopefully somehow you can get your clock running like she should. Maxine is a hoot for sure, and maybe she is just being stubborn. But sometimes I think personally items we really like decide to quit working just to make us appreciate when they were for sure.

Hi ya ANTIQUELADY I am sorry but I have no clue who Maxine is - sorry!! Did you maybe knock the battery a bit when you were dusting it? I know that sometimes that has happened to me, like the battery hasn't come out completely but just needs pushing back in again properly. Or even try changing the battery! I hope you get it working again soon.
