Ironic, Isn't It?

As most of you know, I like a lot of music from the former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Maccedonia..) Last night a Serbian friend of mine and I were talking about a certain new CD by Goran Bregovic. I'd mentioned hearing about the album on the BBC, and he mentioned how he liked Bregovic's stuff, but didn't know he had a new album out. I mentioned that I had the album, and then had to get off the bus at my stop (my friend was the driver). He said he'd look for it. I decided to surprise him, and make a copy of the CD for him. I gave it to him today, and he loved it. He's going to listen to it in the car on the way home. Anyway, here's the ironic part. I was born in Canada. I've never been to Serbia. I don't speak a word of Serbian. I was able to tell my Serbian friend where to find music from his own homeland. LOL? The same thing happened a few years ago with a Croatian friend of mine. I had some rather rare old recordings on a rather expensive CD set by a Croatian singer named Ivo Robic, who was quite famous from the 1940s onward, till his death in 2000. Anyway, when it was mentioned that he liked his music (or that his mother liked it), and he coudln't find it for her, I decided to copy my CDs and mail them off to him in Croatia. He didn't tell his mother, just put one in the CD player when she wasn't looking, and watched the surprised look on her face. Again the same ironies apply as above, only I'm not talking to a friend in Canada, rather sending the music from his homeland, baco to his homeland, that he could not find in his homeland. LOL That was pretty funny too. And today, a package arrived from a Serbian friend of mine in South Africa. He sent me some autographed book jackets. He published his memoirs about his childhood in Bosnia. My husband likes to tease me saying the Serbs and Croats must really like me, since I gave a gift to one today, and received one from another. LOL Any ironies happen in your life these days?

It is really nice to know you have friends from so far away. It must be very enriching.

That is pretty ironic! But pretty neat too that you had the opportunity to help out a couple of friends and that one sent something to you too. I can't recall anything ironic happening to me lately but I'm sure it has at some point.
