Hello Friends, I am full time PHP programmer for the past 2 years. Now I am trying to gather some project on my own and work from home besides office. I don't know how to quote a project. Now I have one project where I have to do coding for creating payment procedure i.e site where users can donate money and this money will be transferred to some organization via paypal or some other payment option. And some other feature are also included in this site. I have to do this using php script. I also use jquery. So how much should I quote if I had to do programming only? The designing part will be done be the person who is providing me this project. Also I a have some similar project where by user will have to subscribe for some amount of time and he will get horoscope on daily basis, with other features and admin panel. Please help me to quote this projects. Also i would like to know that do we have to quote different amount for local clients and remote clients abroad. Please give your suggestion and if possible you can also give me the exact amount which will be required. Also they guy asked me how much will you take for creating pagination. Now how to quote for pagination?

You have to make some rules for you first very clear. For the web project you are looking you must consider the direct investment or the investment by you for third party. that can include the cost of payment gateway, hosting services etc second the software or addition tools you have to buy.. Dont just take the cost zero if you have them already because every tool has its cost and put it in your practice to divide that cost for different projects you are working. third your man power cost (that can be the cost of work hours. means the cost you decided for you per hour(rate) and multiply approximately by the expected time in completion.) and the cost of other indirect expenses like elecricity , machine depriciation(you can include this in your per hour rate for easy calculation.) communication complexity and frequency. as how much support you are getting from client side etc and how much commmunication like your phone bill for particular project. that can be an expected amount. add 25% additional for unnatural cost increments your cost should not be less then that. now you know what is the development cost almost. now add your percentage profit in it and then quote. now you know the limit. it seems to be a bit combursome but when you will do it , you will become habitual.
