Do you drink tap water?

I don't drink tap water for it is not that clean. It could only be used for washing those stuffs which are not for eating. I used to drink barreled water at home. But it is also said that pollution may occur in the filling process. Several days ago, I bought a water purifier and install it on my tap. Every time I turn on the tap and switch to "pure", the tap water flows through the purifier and becomes drinkable. So how about the situation in your home? Is the tap water there safe to drink?

Hi Simon, Yes, I do drink water directly from the tap when I was in Singapore. The water in Singapore is very clean and safe to be drink directly from the tap water. But back to Malaysia, I never drink water directly from the tap water. I always boiled the water with a kettle and I even filter the water before boiling. I just feel unsafe to drink the water directly from the tap water at my town. Sometimes the water colour is not that clear and it is best to cook it first before drinking.

I have the similar experience. When I studied in Hong Kong, I drank tap water directly for it is quite clean. But I restored to the original habit as soon as I came back to mainland. I'm afraid the drinkable tap water would not be available until the water pollution is no longer a serious problem.

I know that water purifier is not omnipotent. It could only deal with tap water which is lightly polluted. I'm satisfied so long as it could provide me with safe water. 100% pure water may not be good to our body.

Dear friend, In our home too we do have a water purifier but at times it has went out or order, so even if we get water through purifier mostly we do either boil it or cool it. We never drink directly from tap water and our local authorities also warned to be safe useing boiled water and avoid direct driking of tap water.

I do sometimes drink tap water, but I mostly drink bottled water. My faucet and refrigerator have filters, so it is perfectly fine to drink my tap water. The tap water here is safe to drink and they claim it's better or as good as bottled water.

We don't drink tap water. Long long ago when I was a kid we use to drink tap water that was year 1985 (I was kindergarten then). My cousin was hospitalized due to drinking dirty or unpurified water. From then on we always buy mineral/ distilled or purified water. We buy it by 5 gallons and it is being delivered at home. Now a day, it is really not safe to drink tap water especially if its rainy season. Same here, we only used tap water for cleaning, washing and bathing. Have you heard about alkaline water? They said it is more okay compared to others, but more expensive... Alkaline water helps in neutralizing the stored acids and toxics in our body so that it can then be removed to our body. I am considering it. Oh boy!!! There are so many different kinds of waters now a day.

I don't drink tap water, I have a filter to clean the water and filter out all the impurities in the water. I don't even drink out of plastic bottles because I don't trust the chemicals that they put in the plastic which can go into the water. I only drink out of glass bottles.

I love to drink tap water. We get it over a distance of about 250 km from Germany's biggest natural lake "Bodensee" and it has a very very low chlorine content. I prefer it from any bottled water and from my chemist point of view I consider tap water the best analyzed food on the market. (Actually, a nearby juice producer is using it to make "juices" from truckloads of imported fruit juice concentrates.)

Well, to me drinking tap water is absolutely fine. Here in ENgland the water is purified and repurified and have no issues with tap water at all. In fact, apparantly tap water is more healthier than bottled water. I don't actually believe that is true but it does make sense because they actually put chemicals in tap water and kill the bacteria that could grow. Therefore you may have a say in what you claim. WELL DONE

I used to just drink water straight out of the tap, and found nothing wrong with it, but now I have a filter on my tap just in case. I think it is a waste of money to buy water from the store when I have perfectly good water for free at my house.

Hi Simon. I've always drunk tap water, and love it with lots of ice in it. In the country, it was always well water, which tested routinely to be found safe. Here in the city, it is treated to be safe. I do know it is a concern, though. All water should be tested at some times to be sure of its safety. Karen

we used to drink tap water in the past. we have our own water pump run by electricity and that was the source of our drinking water and other uses. lately, we are buying distilled water per gallon with the dispenser being provided by the water supplier for free. i know we have a water purifier somewhere and didn't use it for a long time. i hope it still works, might put it into use this time.

Our family is used to buy distilled and purified water everyweek. We are to used to it for 8 years now. There are times that our water purifier is being empty and there is no schedule deliveries for our distilled water so we try to drink our tap water. Our tap water taste well and according to my friend study about tap water that tap water is more clean and healthy compared to distilled and purified water.
