Generation Gap

The other day our eleven year old next door neighbour and her friend got locked out, so they came round here to borrow some shoes (long story) and await their mum's return.
They noticed our horror film collection and began commenting on not only how much they loved scary films but how great Juon (the Japanese version of The Grudge) is. Now I'm 26 and I find that film terrifying! I couldn't believe they were watching things like that. I would have been traumatised when I was that age watching something like that. I'm quite sensitive, but that film scared me now! Am I just a wuss?
It also came out in conversation that they had never heard of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! I was stunned! I'm not that old already am I?!

Oh course your not old! If I'm not then you're not lol I think that the things that's on tv now is nothing like what i used to watch. Juon scared the crap out of me as well but we're now in an age when more and more kids have tvs in their bedrooms so they stay up and watch horror films and it just doesn't scare them like it did our generation.

No kidding. When I was eleven years old Jurassic Park came out in the cinema and it was far and away before its time special effects-wise and everyone was wowed by it. It terrified me!
I told these kids that and they looked at me like I was nuts! These days it's a kid's film!
We've lent the girl a Vincent Price film (House of Wax) and told her to learn her roots!

I don't think "age" is what it used to be.
Innocence is not prized nowadays the way it used to be. Wit the advances in technology, and what kids are exposed to, they seem to "age" faster, accepting as small children, what used to scare adults.

And that fact in itself scares me!
Makes me sad too. They're missing out on so much!
