At least according to Senator Rolland Burris it was. He claims that because Obama had not had time yet to turn arounf the U.S. image after the last 8 years and because thats what we were being judged on, Chicago lost it's bid to host the 2016 olymics. Well, there ya go folks, it's all Bush's fault again. I have as much critisism for the previous administration as the next guy, probably more, but THIS was absolute nonsense.

Well there you go, it is true you can blame Bush for every thing. Forget that South America has never had an Olympic, it is the God given right for America to always have the Olympics.

lmao Now don't exaggerate, we've only had it 8 times! Which is 3 times more than anybody else, but still....

umm...guess I am going to have to remember to write bush a thank you note on that one then!! Most of the cities that host the olympics end up very badly in debt! Chicago is already very badly in debt! They don't need the headache! Rio is a nice place to have them, my husband was talking to me last night about us going there to see them (of, course, we'd be neglecting the return air trip!!) I think they should start hosting them in the third world countries, have every nation pitch a little in for the developement of the site, and then, when they are over, have a lottery and let the poorest village in the area move in!

Well Burris is a corrupt piece of garbage. Maybe he's catering to Obama in the hopes that he may be pardoned if he's even charged with the crimes he's committed. I wonder if they're blaming Bush in Madrid and Tokyo...

Maybe it just wasn't our turn and throwing money at it wasn't going to sway the IOC from giving somebody else a chance. What a novel thought, not Bush's fault. Not Obama's fault. lol

No, but wasting ten million or so dollars of taxpayer money on the pitch effort by the POTUS and the FLOTUS was CERTAINLY Obama's fault.

Would you be angry about the money if we had gotten the Olympics? I would. We have more important things to spend our money on with the economy the way it was.

Yeah, I'd still be mad, probably even madder because hosting the Olympics COSTS a ton of money which frankly we really don't have top spare. As you said, there's a lot more important things to deal with right now.

EVERYTHING that comes out of Burris' mouth is a lie. Why isn't this guy in jail yet? Being from the corrupt state of Illinois, being the only black member of the senate, and being a democrat is what's saving this waste of space. Why would a reporter ask him his opinion on anything? His opinion is Sheit. They should be asking him why he continues to lie about buying 0bama's senate seat.

No it was not Bush's fault nor was it completely Obama's fault. Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose. The reason America lost the bid for the Olympics was because Rio won. The Olympics had nevr been to South America before, that was a very influential arguement. It is nobodies fault. Its a win for South America.

Thank you for a very sensable and matter of fact analysis of this. Far too much has been made of it by both Obama supporters and Obama detractors. I used the Rollin Burris statement as a demonstration of that. It is just as rediculous as Obama's detractors saying this will hurt him badly in a political way. It is a BEEEEEEEEEEEEG story about nothing. Rio won, Chicago lost. Congrats to Rio, better luck next time Chicago.
