Someone Actually Said the Truth on TV

I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher which I don't usually watch. I have to say I like him even though I don't always agree with everything he says. There were discussing Obama and Janeane Garofalo said "The Republican party has been willing carry water for racists since about the 1950s." I've known this. I've known this since I was ten. But to have someone on TV actually say it on a nationally televised cable show is another matter. I'm not saying all Republicans are racists, but all the racist people I know are Republicans. I don't know why the decent people who claim membership in the Republican party don't kick out the racists. In the Green party to which I belong, we actually have a clause which stipulates that one cannot be actively racist while in the party. We don't control anyone's thoughts people can think whatever they want, but you can't attend white supremacist meetings or make public speeches condoning racism. If Republicans and Democrats both did that we would have a much less racist government and society because they would have no political base from which to work. I think this would work because most racists aren't that bright. They don't have enough gumption to organize their own political party. Most of them just want to get drunk and beat up minorities or otherwise oppressed people.

Bill Maher....Janeane Garofalo?? Epic fail right from the mention of those two names. I wish people would stop getting their political and news and commentary from hollywood, most of them are idealogical idiot mouth pieces who have NO clue what they are talking about, they should just shut the fack up and make movies. Someone else already made the point in this thread about the racist past the demorcats had and are now scrambling to hide from history. Though I commend you for aligning with a 3rd party, you went from frying pan to fire with the Green party, they weren't even smart enough to pick a VP candidate who was constitutionaly elgible to win (under age) and their presidential candidate was an all out LOON. Better you should move on to the libertarian or constitution party. You are also apprently still stuck on the idea that america is an institutionaly racist country. Again, FAIl. The evidence simply says the oppposite. Are there still racist people in the country? Sure there are. "I'm not saying all Republicans are racists, but all the racist people I know are Republicans" Thats funny, because all the racist people I know (and I don't know very many) are either democrats who didn't vote at all once Obama got he the nomination or were completely a-political to begin with and couldn't even spell "republican" let alone register as one. I'll leave you with this list of right wing "racists" to chew on.... Piss in the face of that piece of crap Maher and the slimy eel, Jeaneane Garofalo! Liars on the left like to name names of "racist" Republicans, but guess what, when David Duke was in the KKK, he was a member of the Democrat Party. The Democrats OPPOSED The Civil Rights act of 64. The KKK traditionally barred Republcans from joining. Today, Democrat "educators" in inner city schools are teaching the teachers not to challenge the kids intellectually, because they say the kids can't live up to any kind of rigid standard. Sorry, but that is blatant racism. How many Democrats spewed all sorts of racial slurrs on Condoleeza Rice? How many Democrats cried out against Obama in the primaries because he "wasn't Black enough"? Before you continue coming off like an idiot, why don't YOU work to kick the racists out of the Democrat party.. Starting with Robert "KKK" Byrd... then move on to every Democrat who uses racial slurrs to describe Republicans who happen to be Black.

There is no "Democrat Party", it's the "Democratic Party". David Duke having been a Democrat is ancient history as is Robert Byrd's past. He11, THAT was before I was born...lol! I honestly don't recall anyone making racial slurs on Condie Rice. I'm not saying it didn't happen and I KNOW there are scumbags from both parties but I wasn't aware of it. By the way, "that piece of crap Maher and the slimy eel, Jeaneane Garofalo" just said tonight how they agree with YOU about those in the entertainment industry who have defended Roman Polanski. Annie

David Duke was a Democratic and KKK member through the late 80s. He's the favorite name cited by Democratics when they try to trump up the fallacy that the Republicanic party is inherently racist, yet the entire time he was in the KKK, he was a Democratic. The funny part is, while he did enjoy some political success in the local Republican party in Louisiana, he was pretty much universally rejected by the Republicans nationally. Condoleeza Rice was called everything from a "House N****r to "Aunt Jemima". I guess it's ok for Democrats to be as Racist as they want to be.

I am a registered Republican in Illinois but I dare anyone to call me racist. I don't vote for a person just because of their politics, or their color, I vote based on what I believe they will do if and when in office. When it comes down to racism in politics I think the only place that is rampant is right in Washington where race should not even have any effect. They are supposed to represent WE THE PEOPLE - not we the whites or we the blacks etc.

I will not call you a racist, but perhaps naive for saying "...the only place that is rampant is right in Washington..."

I am not one to say that all, or even close to all of those who are against Obama are rascist but there is truth to this thread, at least where I am from in the midwest. Unfortunately the small town I grew up in (and still have some relatives in) has always been known for rascism and a KKK prescense. I was speaking to one of these relatives just yesterday who still lives there (used to always vote Republican) and they said those who deny that this hatred of Dems and Obama has nothing to do with rascism either don't understand because they don't live in the middle of it or are kidding themselves...just saying this is still an issue in some areas with many people.
