Does education always guarantee a better future?

Some people argue that does education always guarantee a better future if someone goes to college, and come out with a degree of something? There were numerous examples of people who didn't even go to college, or barely finish high school, they still become millionaires. So, is education worth the effort? There were people even told me that, even they have a degree of something, they still end up on some dead - end job. Those jobs don't even require a college education to qualify for it. So, what will be your argument for it?

I think what guarantees a better future is a person's attitude towards life.if a person is positive and thinks that s/he can make it to life and get all s/he wants,s/he attracts things that will guarantee him/her a better future.education can help, but it is not really a guarantor for a better future.a person who is always facing and acing life's challenges through prayers, hard working, and positive thinking,s/he has a better future than someone who just relies on his/her degree to get a good job,but doesn't do a very good job and is always negative.

Education has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading. Education does not ensure us a bright future.

An education system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but not teach them how to mame a life.

Well, I think that you have a point here, and I absolutely agree with you on this discussion. I won't just said we go for education, and not to grasp the essence from it. We not only learn from the textbook, but also vast amount of knowledge on other stuff.

I agree that education does guarantee a better future. Or at least it helps a lot. There are people that as you said didnt study and ended up millionaires, its true. But it wont happen to everyone. These are things that can happen. Some associate it with luck and destiny. Maybe they might happen to be at the right place at the right time. I dont know the explanation. But im sure that education will help in one's life and i encourage it a lot.

It is a case to case basis. Many don't even finish their school but they are millionaires. Education is still important to makes us educated and learn good values in life that we can share to others. People will respect you if you are educated and your views in life are broad. Education is the only treasure that we have in life and nobody can't rob it from us.

I am sure that it would not be a waste of time if you go back to study. I know that sometimes certain things happen and you ask your self why it didnt go the way you want it. Its true, sometimes we get mixed up. But education is important and it is never a waste of time. I stopped studying because something bad happened a while ago and didnt have courage to go on and continue. It happened while I was going to do my final exams to go to uni. I then found a job, nearly a year passed and im happy with this job. But, although im happy with what I have, I still have that something missing. I was studying languages and fortunately the desire to oontinue studying is a lot. Then a colleague of mine after years and years of her quiet her job, to go to uni. I admired her. She told me to do the same thing as she did. Like this we could have a better and stable future. I know she is right. I am waiting till I find the right time although having said that, its not easy to quit my job, and later on it would be harder to do that im sure. Just dont give up.

Hey, For me education is some thing which is extreamly important in one's life. its the period of time when you learn moral values. My dad always say that Education is the backbone of a human being. Its required for a human to stand on it own in the world. Well i agree that a lot of illeterate people have successful careers too. They make a lot more money then the highly qualified people. But if u ask them whether they wanted to get educated or not, more often then not they will say Yes. I never compare qualification with money. I can earn millions but if there is no education with me then iam leaving a huge area vacant. Its like an invisible cloth and without it iam naked. Thus I would urge all my friends that let the young ones study and make a good life. Its only by learning they will be a better person and judge whats wrong and right in life. Cheers, Tutul

Well, I will definitely agree with you on this discussion. Sometimes, education is way beyond money. So, gaining a good education can help one's to judge what is right and what is wrong. So, do not ignore the importance of education. Always go for it as best as you can.

for my own insight education is not a guarantee for a better future of an individual for there are lots of degree holder now that are unemployed and broke.but its our skills, perseverance and commitment.no matter what your educational attainments if the laziness dwells in you, then dont be surprised if you were left miles behind from others.but if we equipped ourselves with good education that will enrich our skills, enthusiasm, hardwork(a lot of it)and faith in God then your on the right track.

Not alway. You make your future first off. With college though will allow you to get better paid jobs. The way you get hired from them is the way you act and look. Still find a job you like and go into it.

Both your examples are very correct yet I think whether education is that much important or not, depends entirely on the economy of the country you are talking about. As much as I have gathered here at mylot, people in developed nations don’t really need a compulsory college education to eke out a living…the opportunities are aplenty to earn some money at the end of the day, the social security is there to take care of bad times and almost the entire nation has good infrastructure so that people can spread out everywhere and look for jobs. However, in developing and poor nations, I think education is the only tool to a better future. At least here in my country India, there is not much a person can do without a college education. There are communities who are traditionally business-oriented, so maybe they opt for that but otherwise for the bulk of the other jobs, a college education is the minimum requirement for a decent job. Of course, there is no social security as such and such a vast country is not uniformly developed, so the jobs are concentrated at certain pockets which makes it all the more difficult.

Education certainly open lots of doors of opportunities but it is no way a guarantee that one educated is to succeed. At least he is better equipped to land a better employment compared to someone who is not properly educated and lack the necessary qualifications. On the other hand, there are those too who are not graduates can be successful in their chosen field. This is very rare considering the very limited opportunities open to them. have a great day.

hello clorissa123, it may or may not. that depends on the person. but education for sure is something that you can be proud of toanyone else for that is an achievement. no one can steal that from you. we can use that as one of our assets or plus factor in applying for a job. we should not be choosy especially if we are just a fresh graduate for we need to make an experience. in short, we all go to the process of learning. that is start from the bottom or scratch.

Well, I'm afraid to write that = education doesn't always guarantee a better future. I don't really enjoy when discussing about 'better future' with someone else, becasue however future is mistery and nobody knows it and even we can't always arrange one. Education just a formal way, with epic point-of-view that someone with higher degree will also have higher opportunity to get a better job. As you wrote above, it is likely to be easy finding someone with no degree but lives with billion dollars.

Hi clorissa, For me,education is an important element in the life. In order to have better prospect in this advanced world, you need at least some a certificate in hand,or else, you will be out-dated from the society. I did not mean that people who are just graduated from high school might not ended up with high pay job.it is also depend on luck when talking about future. Some people with higher educational qualification, might also end up in a lower pay job or even jobless. That's might be because they expectation are too high and too choosy in job hunting. So from my opinion,Education is still play an important role in life, but then it is also depend on the individual itself to determine the road that he/she is choosing for his/her future.

I think that to have a better life or future do what you want to do. If you think that college is too much of a hassle don't go. Your future is what you make it and you can still be happy without a degree in my opinion. But if your looking to make money I'd go with college.

Education always guarantee a better future, remember better not bet best. You can get some jobs if you are educated but you will end up your life as a beggar if you aren't educated at all.Your capabilities and your achievements are measured by the degree you have. It's up to you to choose the type of job,as there are many SCAM jobs which only takes money from you and never give anything. So maybe those people were fooled by some fake jobs.As we talk about education,it is a must thing, you may focus your time on sports but if you are not able to play well then your life will be ruined where as if you are educated you can get any good job anytime!!!

I don't know. It definitely depends on the person. If the person is serious and works hard with his or her future, then surely he will get a better future. But, education is very much a step in getting to that brighter one. Some people just gets lucky who lives now successfully without even having education.

Yes i agree, education is the only thing that always guarantees u for a better future. Whatever it may be, if your in college dont be upset if u wont select in on campus or off campus, keep on doing some additional tasks, add some extra skills, learn somewhat extra from what u learn in college. You must browse the web, lots of information is here. Happy Journey...........(:

I believe that fortune or luck or a good future isn't only for those who finished school. Although I really believe that if you are a graduate of college, you do have an edge over those who doesn't but still it isn't a 100% guarantee beause of course there are a lot of factors.

I don`t think that education will guarantee you a bright future. Even if you don`t go to college, you can have a bright future if you know how to manage the money , or if you are helped a little by your family or some of your relatives , or even friends . In this crude world, we must be better than a lot of people, and we need to be twice faster and smarter if we want to have a nice life . I think that most important it`s to be ambitious, and what ever you`ll going to do , never give up ,and try it again and so on . It`s imposible not to reach your goal , if you really work hard for that . Never give up !

well, education of course matters a lot, there are different kind of education, higher education in colleges enable you to contact more knowledge, and broden your horizom, of course will enhance your advantage in hunting a better future; About those who do not have college graduation certificate, they live better than those who have, the reason why you may find out, that they work hard, and during their working process, they learn seriously. they learn about their work, learn about socializing and others... this is self-euducation. In my mind, self-education is much much more important than college education.

I don't think education can guarantee a better future. The "education" you mentioned here is "school education".I think that's a kind of experience to let you have a place to stay and learn sth at the same time, but if you have a better place to go, you definitely can drop out just like Bill Gates. For most of us we cant find the better place. And there are another kind of education, family education, which plays an important role in a kid's life.Sometimes parents can affect kids more than teachers do.
