Has there ever been a case where there is a person who doesn't communicate?

and seems to be trapped in their own world? I saw a tv show based on fiction that uses characters where in one show the rape victim stops talking, and just either stays still, lays down, or just sit there. I saw another tv show where a family has an autistic son who doesn't talk, doesn't make eye contact, just stays still, and always daydreaming (trapped in their own world) Has any of these situations happen in real life?

Um yes... some mental health issues cause this as well as emotional/physical trauma, and post traumatic stress disorder. Also, Im aware of some children whose parents didnt care to raise them properly and they were taught to speak but not really allowed to do so or to touch others.
