For those who follow the abudction story of our poor Israeli soldier (who also obtains a French nationality) Gilad Shalit, what do you feel about it?

Having Shalit as a prisoner has given Hamas more power than they could ever have gotten otherwise. I do think that Israel should be releasing Palestinian prisoners who don't have "blood on their hands" so to speak, but I also think that it's really sick that the only reason Israel gives Hamas any say in anything is because of one hostage/prisoner. Because this is the case, I don't see Hamas releasing Shalit any time soon. Perhaps if Hamas was treated more like a government, they would start acting like one.

I really do believe you when you say that Israelis value life: on the whole, I have seen that the Israelis value one another's lives, and in a way, I find it to be touching. On the other hand, I do not think that they value the lives of their Palestinian neighbors. I am not Jewish, so I do not want to judge harshly, but as a Christian who believes that we should love our neighbors - even the ones who are not the same religion as us - I am very disheartened by the treatment of Palestinians from the Israeli government, soldiers and settlers. You seemed to have completely missed my point. Hamas is not the equivalent to terrorists. There are certainly some terror tactics used, yes, but then again, Israel has been known to used terror tactics as well (using human shields, white phosporus, targeting schools and hospitols and ambulances). My point was that Hamas needs to be given the respect of a government if they are ever expected to start acting like one. The fact that Shalit is their only means of power right now is absurd. How many innocent Palestinians are locked up by Israel?? I am not talking about the terrorists, I am talking about men like Mohammad Othman, who was imprisoned on September 22 because he went to Norway to be an activist for Palestinian human rights. His only crime was trying to return home, where such a peaceful and reasonable man was obviously not wanted. Peaceful protestors are arrested and beaten daily by the IDF. And it's not only the Palestinians who are imprisoned for wanting peace - the Israeli youth who refuse to join the army as conscientious objectors are also thrown into prison. How do you expect Hamas to respond to a country that punishes those who strive for peace? Shalit is the only way to get Israel to listen to them. Which is why Israel needs to start rewarding those who seek peace and stop using and giving into terror tactics.

If you consider yourself an honest person, I suggest you come to Israel and see exactly what's going on. It is very easy to judge - Israel is Goliath, Palestinian people are David. Of course there are innocent people in the Palestinian side, I personally know few of them and helped them in recent years. The difference between Israel and the Hamas is very simple: Hamas target innocent people in the Israeli side. Israel target terrorists in the Palestinian side. If you knew Arabic, I would send you Hamas' convention which explicitly call upon the destruction of Israel and establishing an Islamic counry. Palestinian people had more than one opprotunity to sign a peace treaty with Israel, but sadly for them and for us, their leaders decided the bloodshed way. Hamas exploits innocent young boys and teaches them how to hate Jews. I can send you numerous links of Anti-Semitic programms and cartoons . The only reason Hamas is willing to release Shalit is because he is their only secret weapon.

I wonder how do you call Osama Bin Laden? A freedom fighter? and if yes, what kind of freedom does he seek?
