I'm getting so old - My body tells me this EVERY morning!

ARG - it's raining again - it's not cold, but it's wet - which means the moisture in the air will wreak havoc on my for most, if not all, of today... Now, I'm not the type to walk around complaining, "oh, my XX hurts" or make excuses of why I can't do this/that because I'm in pain... I've had several injuries over the years that I still experience pain almost every day... But I was thinking about it in detail the other day and just the INJURIES amazed me... I'm not talking boo-boos that have healed, I'm talking permanent damage to areas of the body that stick with you... Want to compare?? Starting with my back: when I was younger, I worked as a waitress and fell in a kitchen. I pulled the lower back muscles pretty bad. They still hurt. Also, a car accident left me with herniated disk right between my shoulder blades. My shoulder, I fell getting into a hot tub. Caught myself but wrenched my arm up and back, leaving me with rotater cuff damage. My Knee, when I was in the service, I broke my knee cap. My wrists, I have carpal tunnel in both. So that's it. But have you ever wanted to have unlimited access to say, an e-ray machine, or maybe an MRI machine to take a look at the state of your body??? I've had e-rays and MRI taken before, but I wonder what it looks like now? After all these years, after the continued abuse, after the progress of age??? I think it would be interesting to see. Anyone else??

I´m old and feel all kinds of pain too, but I don´t think it´s worth taking a look at the several injuries with machines if they can´t be helped. I had back surgery in 2 discs more than a de cade ago. Sometimes I wake up and I can´t stretch my body. It hurts a lot. But I say: if I had had this 50 years ago, I´d be in a wheel chair. I´m no Pollyanna but I have learnt to deal with my pains. My joints hurt a lot and so do my knees. A warm shower helps a lot and I´m taking calcium with vitamin D. I hope it will help someday. Meanwhile, I cannot finish a knitted sweater for my youngest grandson. The kneedles hurt in my hands. Fortunatly, my daughter is pragnant again. So, maybe, if I can´t finish this sweater in time before Vicente grows, I´ll be able to finish it for the next baby.. Well, in mny country Spring is comming. The plants have blossoms and flowers. I´ll start a veggie garden this year even if I have to do it on Ibuprofen. Life is still beautiful. By the way, I won´t tell you about my othr scars: it would be endless and it´s not worth it.My garden is now in bloom. I´ll send you a picture wito make you happy.

Good morning, thank you for your response... my injuries are so old that they can't be helped now, and I'm not ready to give up alot of my activities just because I may be sore afterwards.... I just think it would be interesting to see the injuries - kind of like putting a name to a face! I wouldn't go and do it at a doctor's office, but just fancy thoughts, if I could do it, I would... Warm showers help, but we're lucky enough to have a hot tub and that's really the best cure... Although, we have to share this with our 4 YO so the temp isn't as high as we (as adults) like it, but it's okay... Yes, we deal with pain and move on - it's the only way to live, if you want to live to the fullest... Good luck with your knitting - I received a beautiful hand-knitted sweater for my son when he was born too and it was one of the most precious things... I'm sure your daughter will love it! Summer has given way to Fall and soon Winter will be upon us... time to stock up on firewood! thanks for the pic - I love flowers!

Hi Raven How are you doing today? I hope that the aches and pains start to ease for you. I know how you feel. I know that it is a job to get thru the day without giving into the all the pain. My sister suffers everyday with a muscle diease, but Im not sure what you call it. All I know she tries several different things to keep out of the pain pill bottle. I do read somewhere that if you take a multi-vitamin and vitamin E that it will help with some of the healing of aged muscles and nerves. She is trying it know to see how it is going to work. I will let you know for sure how it works out. I wish you all the luck and I will be thinking of you. Keep smiling and keep that head held high..

Hi Rose! I'm so sorry for the delay in acknowledging your response! I do thank you for participating! Anyhoo... I am doing better... I have replenished my vitamin supply and have been taking a multi everyday... I also have reduced the amount of coffee I drink have have cut down on cigs! This seems to help... As far keeping away from the pain meds, I don't even try. I know when I wake up with pain that unless I take an Advil, my day will NOT improve! Most of the times, an advil and a bowl of Cheerios helps alot and I can go about my day of Mommy and/or Wife duties! I hope your sister is well, and again, I do appreciate your response! Warmest regards to you !!!

Hi Raven I understand that sometimes things get behind. That is quite all right for the delay. I too have the coffee and cigerettes as well. Im trying to cut back on the smoking but the coffee is a whole another story..LOL..I want to quit smoking but it seems that every time I decide to something comes along that really messes that plan up. You have a good day and keep smiling. It does the soul good..

I feel the pains too, lol, although not as bad as you feel them. I work harder now and I walk a lot plus I use public transport. I wish I could go back to having my own transport. I think that may be the primary source of all the pain and 'agey' feeling.

I am not very old but everytime I go up a stairs and hear the creaking and its not the stairs its my creaking kneee joints and then when I reach the top I am breathless ,I know that i am getting older too.I also know that i am getting older when I realise that my skin isnt as tight as it used to be and my hairline is receding but I try to ignore them and just act as if I am a young turd still with endless possibilities after all i am sure someone once said you are as old as you feel lol

Ronnyb! Good to see you back! Thanks for the response... Well, I'm feeling better today, the rain is burning off and it's looking like a very nice Autumn day is headed this way... Oh, I could go on and on about how I feel, but it's boring! And you're right, it won't change anything! So, as I've done for most of my years, I'll try to ignore the pain, and live my life to the fullest... I don't let most things stop me - I have my 4 YO to keep up with - and I could note that I purposely didn't take care of myself right when I was younger.... All those hours of riding quads in the woods - yes, even flipping one over ontop of myself! All the years of manual labor, all the years of taking for granted I'd be young forever... I can't say I regret alot of it, I just ALWAYS have plenty of Advil around! Good to see you again - commence with the discussions!

Age is about how you feel. Go to your doctor, go for a walk, make some exercises, do some hobbies you'd like to do and you'll feel pretty young my friend.

Yes, most days, I feel well - I have too as my son is very active... but some days, I feel very tired, and OLD! But I do enjoy walking and we often visit the pool to swim... I thank you for your response!
