Yes I have faced this problem many times. Mostly when I download small utility programs and install them they do not place an uninstaller in the add/remove programs list. That creates a big problem. I normally then go to C:-program files folder and try to find out the program folder wise. Then it becomes very hard task for me to find each and every folder. If it does not contain any uninstall program in its program folder I use Revo uninstaller to remove that particular program.

Once I have installed the avast anti virus software in my PC. After few days, they software program corrupted itself and failed to work well and I tried to uninstall the software and reinstall. But as the software was corrupted, I was not able to uninstall it .I tried it many ways. I tried to remove it from add/remove program. Not possible. Then I tried to delete the respective folders from the C drive. That was also not possible. Then I tried to stop all the services related to the software in the task manager.I was not able to stop them also. Then I tried to install a fresh copy of the software so that I could remove it properly. Installation was also not possible. Then with the help of my cousin, who is well familiar with command prompt,I tried to remove some folders. She did some thing in the command prompt. Then only we happened to remove the software fully.Highly irritated me for about half a day.

Hi! Programs installed in your PC can only be removed through the control panel add and remove programs. there you can uninstall downloaded applications. they cannot be removed only by directly deleting them from your desktop.

Its weird, I once downloaded a nascar toolbar (don't remember why but it had nice features and seemed legit). Once I Downloaded it, it ruined my Firefox settings and a few internet explorer problems were created. I had to fix it so I thought I might as well uninstall the toolbar. Once I had uninstalled it, it had left some files on the computer which couldn't be deleted. I had problems getting rid of those files and managed to delete them using a file assassin which took forever to find. After this I had to seek help from some professionals to delete the spyware and malware which compromised my computer settings. This was a long time ago before I started learning about computers and how the internet works.

Yes I have experience of these, because I only use that software for a while and remove it if I don't need it because it slows down my computer. If I need it again I re-install it and remove it later on if I don't need it for a longer time.

Hi apples99, well i also faced some problem while removing Norton Anti-virus and Nero 9. Well i downloaded that huge software from internet and when i thought of giving it a try on my newly installed XP, it just hangs up my system. As i was not having a genuine license, i was expecting to use it for trial period but within just one day, it proves that it cant stay in my system for long and on that same day in the evening, i re-format my system because it had created so much unwanted registry files and other applications which could not be removed. So i just remove it permanently from my system. Now using Symantec End Point Protection (working great) (a product of Norton but not as bad as Norton Security Suite with dozen of unwanted softwares). Other thing which annoyed me was Nero 9.Ohhh man,,,, truly a mad person's creation. Takes 45 min to install....(fresh installation of XP/Vista takes jsut 15-20 min)....and what more...it takes a re-install of OS to remove that software. That software really givse me trouble. Now i'm using Nero 8 and its working great.

Well i have an experience like you. It was a certain anti virus software. I install it because i heard it is a very good antivirus. but the anti virus use too many resource, and it is not that good either. Then i decide to uninstall the Antivirus, but after the uninstall proses finished and i try to install a new anti virus, the new antivirus still detect the old one. it said the old antivirus is still installed in my computer which i actually already uninstalled. In the end, i googling it and found out that the old antivirus is always behave like that. I donlod some software call the (old_antivirus_name) uninstaller. And after that the software fully uninstalled the old Anti Virus and i can then install my new Anti Virus. Ok, thats it from me.

Yes, some programs are notoriously difficult to get rid of, namely antivirus software like Norton. Previously, I even had to download an additional program remover for it, but now, I don't know if it is still the case.

I just had a recent experience with Yahoo being unable to delete all of its files on my PC. I tried removing the files manually and to no avail. I can cannot uninstall the entire program completely so I can download and install a fresh copy. To fix it, what I did was to do a System Restore. Finally, I have Yahoo Messenger up and running.
