The Phantom Phone

So, if you have seen some of my previous posts, you will know that the roomie and I spent several HOURS working on my front room. She cleverly brought one of the cordless phones into the room in case we got a phone call (and considering we had both doors BLOCKED for several hours, its a good thing we didn't have drinks or need to go to the bathroom!) After accidentally setting off the ringer once, she put it down someplace and I later knocked it off and moved it. Well, we get home from the Goodwill/supper run and we're back working a bit more in here (I had to rediscover my desk so I could even WRITE you guys.) Then the phone rings. Well, we go looking for it and can't find it. We HEAR it, but it always seems like its just someplace else. It also seems to be moving around. Finally, I decide to take the other phone out of the front room (she had to go get it so she could find out who called the first time.) I also found the 5th bag of cloth stuff and was taking it back to the other room to store it. And that darn phone is still following me - and then the roommate said it was gone. I reach down and found it IN MY POCKET! You ever lost something only to find it ON you?

I do believe we are kinfolks, elic, i'm always doing something crazy like that.My biggie is putting things in a safe place so i will know where they are, not !! i forget where that nice safe place is most of the time. Old age is the pits as one of my little customers use to tell me at the shop every week. I now know what she meant, lol.

I agree, I do think we are sisters separated at birth - those things that are put in safe places, some of them I'm still looking for!

LoL....that was too funny! For a second, I thought it was Casper the ghost, alright...ha! For me, I have lost things only to discover them on places like I never imagine. Like in the shower area, on top of the washing machine and whatnot..

I have honestly never forgotten where the glasses are, they cause me so much pain that I'm never likely to forget that I'm wearing them. I must be the only one...

Huuummmm, it sounds a lot like me! My favorite thing is to be searching for something like my car keys and spend about an hour frantically searching for them and they'll be in my hand. At least you did find the phone. If it had been my house with that much cleaning, it would have been in one of the bags that went out. One feature I love on my cordless is a locater button on the base unit. I hate to admit how many times I use it to find where the heck I left the phone. I only have the one handset, so it is important that I make sure I have it.

been there, done that before we got the 3 handset and landline phone... Never looked for my keys and they be in my hand, because I have them on a cord that stays on my clothes in fact at Walmart today getting an oil change the gal held up my keys and asked "are these yours?" mind you, she had the clip and the keys were hanging down about 18 inches...

That's the problem with cordless phones, they're portable but you can never find them! I just leave mine in the cradle and walk around with it when I'm using it. If I'm lucky, I remember to replace it so I can find it again!

well, she had it in her pocket until she set off the ringer - because we knew we were going to be trapped in the room for a while and didn't want to have to go moving stuff if it rang - turned out it didn't ring until we were able to get out of the room. did I mention that we were able to get out the front door before back into the rest of the house? We went that way first to put out the trash/recycling - then we went off to Goodwill still leaving the door to the rest of the house blocked by the bags to go back to the cat room... they normally live in the cradles for that reason, oh, and the roomie is visually impaired so that's another reason to put them back to where they belong, so she can find them

This story seems to be very funny. I do not think I have had anything like that happen to me. but I am sure I have found things that I have missplaced in my pokets or luggegage. just last week I found a ring box in my luggeage that I had over looked. I thought I had taken it out and looked high and low for it. I retraced my steps and found that it was in the luggege after all. jsut where I placed it, I justed did not check far enough. lol.

I went on a trip in 07 and when I opened the luggage, discovered I hadn't finished unpacking from the 03 trip! oh, the clothes were all out, but there were still a few souvenirs in the suitcase

LOL that's so funny Elic! How we can make ourselves look so stupid without even trying! LOL My mom does it all the time with her glasses. She'll put them on top of her head and forgets that they're there and goes looking for them. When one of us point out where they are, on her head, she feels like a idiot.... lol

I have done the proverbial "if it was a snake it would have bit me" looking for my glasses and finding them on the top of my head. Those kind of things always bug me when there is something strange happening and you know what it is and yet you can't really put your finger on it.

this was just driving us crazy, because it was always just to the side of me, and it was always in my direction to the roomie - until I left the room and then it was GONE!

Well...Just yesterday I took off out of the house to go to my mum’s place with my daughter. We were in a hurry because we had to stop along the way and attend to some errands and we were already running late. I started driving down the road and after about five minutes I asked my daughter to look in my bag for my mobile phone. She looked and told it was not in there and I remembered receiving a text message just before we left and I was sure I left the phone on the table. So back we go much to my child’s dismay. We arrive back at the house and I go inside and start hunting around for my phone; it’s nowhere to be found so I rang my number and guess what? It was in my bag in the car as it should have been in the first place!

when we went out to Goodwill, I couldn't find my phone pouch (with my driver's license in it) under the stuff on my desk, but I figured at least it was only a short trip and we didn't have any troubles

hahaha! that has happened to me several times at home. sometimes the phone will ring and I'll walk into the next room to get it and it's not where i heard it. I walk back into the previous room and I find it under the couch

oh my, under couch isn't going to happen here, because we keep the cats away from the large furniture and we have no kids oh, and we only have a love seat, and that's buried in laundry
