I know younger people will probably not be interested in this but u to should have one. One day u will be able to look back & see things on the year u were born. A few years ago i made a comment to a friend that i would like to have one & she found me one on ebay. I thought it was so kind of her to go to the trouble & was shocked what good condition it was in after all we are talking 1942 back in the olden days as my sons use to say. Do u have one??

Oh yes, I do have a calendar day of my birthday, all we 3 siblings have as my mom has kept that last time, I was so weird the first time she showed it to me i asked her why does she need to keep it then she told me is her souvinier so one day she can look back at all this and reminise those times. Now i do understand her, as i now like to keep a lot of memorable things which are important to me.

No, I don't have one. Yes, I do find them interesting!!! There are numerous websites that give this information & I visit those as time allows. I did a discussion a good number of months back with a link to a website that told you the #1 song of the day you were born. I asked people to go & enter their birth date, find their song & come back to tell us their song of the day plus their memories of it. It was very interesting to hear the results. I then went to youtube & got the link to their song of the day so anyone reading could hear the song if they weren't familiar with it but was interested. There were a few who weren't familiar with their song of the day until they went to youtube & then they said oh yes, i remember... I really enjoyed that discussion!!! I also enjoy the site that tells the price of various items on your date of birth. It keeps the cost of goods in perspective. That was truly kind of your friend to take the time to find a calendar of your birth year. She/he is truly a friend!!!!

NO and this sounds wonderful. OI have ordered copies of a newspaper on th day that someone was born and given it to them. One newspaper in the U.K. offers this service at a hefty price but the people were so happy to see what was happening ion th world on the day that they were born. Great post!

I was born in '52. So you're older than me Jo! Whodathunkit? LOL Anyway, I don't have a calendar for that year, but on my 21st birthday, my Dad gave me a series of scrapboks that began in 1952 and continued up until I was 21 full of pictures, adverts, news items and things like that for each year of my life, so that I could track the evolution of the world as well as my own life from the beginning of my life. What a great gift and a tradition I carried on for my own boys, as well as kept doing for myself. My, what a long way I and the world have come from those baby boomer days within the decade after the war.............

I'm little bit confused by the meaning of calendar here. Is it normal calendar which we are writing about ? And if yes, I don't have one. =) I don't think it's necessary for us to have one. If we want to have something which reminds us about our childhood, I believe photos and diaries will be the best, instead of just plan calendar. =)

Dearest Jo, Do you mean to say what was happening to the world while we were being born? Wars, of course, just like now. Only better or worse. We human beings are beasts. Even poor Lola is kinder than most of us. I have read lots of books about WW II and a few years ago I decided to stop. It was when I decided I was NOT going to see The Schindler´s list. From then on, I choose movies such as Pretty Woman. I have seen too much and my body is too painful and tired to take upon my shoulders more pain. But I do put the oldies to sing along with them. A couple of days ago I was cleaning and found this casette where Paul Anka sang. The car flew while I sang with him Crazy love and Diana. Hug!

i have a diary that my mum kept of the year i was born... really good and i cherish it with all of my photos of me when i was a child.. and will do same for my children and hoping they will be able to do the same aswell... lol you can get birthday cards with your birth year on and it has newspaper cuttings of headlines from that year... Really good! But if you don't want to emphasize your age... having the year and headings on the card mite not help too much!! lol :-D

Hi there ANTIQUELADY I don't have one no but I think I would like to. A lot happened the year I was born! Here in the UK you can also get hold of newpapers of the year you were born too by through a certain company but they are quite expensive. I was going to get one for my mum for her 60th birthday as I was getting together 60 things to put in a box, you may recall my discussion on it, but when I found out how much they were I decided not to. Instead I bought 3 cd's of the years me and my two brothers were born and I think they were more rememorable for her as she wouldn't have remembered anything from the day she was born but would from 1968, 1970 and 1971.

Thanks ANTIQUELADY yes she did, and it was fun doing it too. Let me know if you want the website address for the newspapers but it might not be of much interest because it will be mainly English new I would have thought but you might find it interesting to have a look at the site anyhow!

No but I think it would be neat to have one. I have known of some people that have saved newspapers for the day their children are born on. I think it would be pretty neat to have one of those too.

I don't have a calendar of the year I was born, but I do buy the birthday cards quite often for my family and friends. They are available at centercoln.com, and cost about $3.00 (Cdn) plus shipping and handling. I find that they make really unique cards and people quite enjoy receiving them. The site also sells other things like commemorative coin sets, and stuff like that, but I have only ever purchased the cards. I have never noticed how far back in years they go, but I believe it is somewhere in the 1920's right up to the current year.
