It's A No Go...

Well, I didn't get the job that I interviewed for the other week--but it's okay...I'm sure there was someone else with more experience who deserves the position more than I do.
Anyways, I'm staying positive through this situation...I've decided to stop looking for a new job right now. Work has promised to give me more time and it won't be that bad staying there for a while...plus I can have time to save up more money.
Plus my family has a couple plans for vacations in the coming year. My dad wants to take me and whoever else wants to go to Vegas because he has a time share there for this new years, and it may be really fun to shop and visit Vegas, I've never been there...and my parents want to take us on a cruise to alaska that might be really fun...and if I moved away then it would be difficult for me to go on these trips with my family.
See! Thinking of the positives :) lol

Hi, Lily!
Girl, I like your attitude! Positive thinking is one way of actually being happy and being able to enjoy life. We can do only so much. I can work hard and do my best but, if it's still a no go, I only allow myself to wallow in self-pity and why why why for a few minutes. After that, I have to accept that there are better things in store for me. And it usually turns out like that.
Your upcoming vacation sounds great.
Cheers!

Yeah, I try to stay positive even when I'm not feeling it lol
If I'm working on a night and I just don't feel like it--on my drive to work I crank up the radio and sing really loud and bad! lol. That makes my mood get a little better before work :D
And when I need to get "bad" feelings out....if I feel they are bottling up inside me...I watch a sad movie or show so I can cry! lol. Marley and Me ALWAYS works! :D lol

Hey, if no one else comes to mind, I'll go with you... Of course, with my economic circumstances, let me see here--when I consider my savings accounts, my checking accounts, my credit accounts, the money I have in my walled, my 401k, and all my collected annuities, investments and cash... uhm...does Vegas have penny slots anywhere?

sorry you didn't get the job you wanted... It wasn't meant to be, mayhaps the one that's right for you is just around the corner. (Fingers crossed.)

Well, someone in your family could always marry or adopt me!?
J/k... I was thinking you'd notice my reference to penny slots, not the rest of it. (shrug).

Hehe sorry I meant whoever else in my family wants to go
And my sister already said she'd go
.
It wouldn't have been my first choice anyways, and I had no experience so I wasnt' surprised I didn't get it lol.

I am sorry the new job prospect didn't work out. Vegas is very pretty but usually crowded with tons of people. Guess it also depends on the time of the year you are there. We went twice in the summer time and it was jammed with gamblers. Am not real anxious to return since I don't sleep that well away from home. Plus the casinos are open all the time and I just had to see what was going on..lol Have always heard an Alaskan cruise is beautiful. Enjoy your vacation time with your family.

We'll be going to Vegas around the time of New Years...end of december to beginning of january. It'll probably be really crowded, I imagine, at that time! lol
Yeah I've heard Alaska is beautiful too, I'm looking forward to the pictures I'll get from a cruise there!
Thanks! :)

"Whatever happens, happens for the good." I've heard that quite a few times and I must say that in most cases it's very true! The 'good' may not materialize right now, but it most definitely will in the near future. Sure you didn't get the job, someone else got it, might be for a number of reasons. The way I like to view this situation is - you didn't get that job because a better one awaits you. And I say that because I've been in the same situation before and now I'm incredibly happy with the outcome! :)
Furthermore, as you say, going for trips and saving extra money is not just thinking about the positive side, it IS the positive aspect and that's the way to move in life! Don't just think, believe, which I'm sure you are! :)
All the best with everything! :)

Thank you!!! :) I really hope that I'll get a job I'll enjoy more :) And I'm already seeing the good. While I was waiting to hear back I was worried that, maybe I wasn't ready to leave my family yet...that may be true!!!

Ooooooo, can I go, can I go??? Lol. I love Vegas, there's always something fun to do there even if you don't gamble. I like to go back every few years for about 4 or 5 days. There are a LOT of great places to eat there too and they have some really great deals. If you gamble at all, or even if you don't really, go to some of the casinos customer service counter and register for their rewards card. Most times they give you something for signing up like a T-shirt or coffee mug. You can get a lot of cool, free stuff.
Oh, the cruise to Alaska! I've ALWAYS wanted to do that one. It's one of the things on my "bucket list" for sure. At least getting to see Alaska even if I don't do the (pretty expensive) cruise.
Sounds like missing that job might turn out to be a lot of fun! [;-)

I don't gamble at all, it kind of bugs me actually lol! So PLEASE, as the Vegas expert can you recommend any really good places? Restraunts? Shopping? Anything?
Lol I am more excited about Alaska than the actual cruise...but I'm looking forward too it! :) Don't tell me how expensive it is!! I don't want to know how much my parents are spending because it'll make me feel guilty.
Thanks!

Oooo! Free Attractions!!! lol I like that!!!!! :D
Ooo I'd like to get some pictures with those creepy human statues (those are the ones you're talking about right?) and I love lions! Would like to see them :) My dad doesn't eat sea food, and I really only like snow crab--so he might now want to spend that much hehe
I wouldn't be gambling at all the casino's---but I would probably enjoy the shows they put on.
My dad says that the hotel we have a timeshare so really popular and cleebrities might be staying there! And we'd be going at such a popular time, I might meet some celebs I know!!! I would LOVE that the most, I think. I've never met anyone famous. I think I would DIE if I met Gerard Butler there! :P lol
Thanks for all the links, I'm looking them over now! :D

I'm not a big gambler either, I mostly play the slots and poker machines. I take a set amount of money as my "entertainment" money and that's all I gamble. I was lucky the last time I went, I won $400 on a slot machine and that paid for my gambling and I came out ahead. Anyway, there is a ton of information on www.vegas.com about everything, but here's a couple of direct links. This one is for free attractions: http://www.vegas.com/attractions/freeattractions.html and this one is for Dining Deals: http://www.vegas.com/restaurant/specials.html I hope I typed those right... I'm still not allowed to paste. Arrrgh... I definitely recommend you go to the Rio. It's on the south end of the strip and they have a fantastic seafood buffet. It's about $30 per person but it's a huge buffet, lobster tails, crab, sushi, just about everything. They also have a free show in the casino that happens about every half hour, just look up. Take in the fountain show at the Bellagio, it looks great after dark. Also the volcano at the Mirage. Most of the major hotels have some sort of free attraction. Caesars Palace has a display called the Fall of Atlantis outside their forum shops, try to get there just before the hour and the statues will start talking to you. They also have a big salt water aquarium there. The MGM Grand has a lion habitat. Anyway, you get the idea, you can see all kinds of stuff just exploring the casinos. I think I'm going to have to plan a trip there soon...

Is this regarding the caregiver?
Well, it's a good thing that you look on the bright side. At least there's more to look forward to despite not getting this job. You're right, probably someone with better experience get the job. Maybe it wasn't meant for you.
Going for a vacation with your family sound definitely awesome. It's Vegas! It must be thrilling! Even a cruise to Alaska sound interesting.

I have more plans to look forward to for the next year so yay! :) I havent been on a REAL, NEW vacation in FORever! So I am really looking forward to these two...and I have a little project to work on before them (losing 20-30 pounds before them) lol! So that'll keep me busy too :P
