I posted two discussions a while ago and while responding to the comments on my discussions, I noticed that my rank dropped. In a state of panic, I began to wonder which of the two discussions violated mylot rules. So I went to the do's and don'ts section and found out that you cannot post....RECIPES!
I did not exactly post an entire recipe, I only described what I put together on that discussion. This makes me wonder about the cooking section, of how many members here post similar discussions because it does say "Cooking". Oh well, lesson learned.

Hi anne25penn,
I think your rating goes down not because you posts some recipes comment. Your discussion still there and that's mean mylot doesn't do anything about it yet.
I think someone just give you a - rate for you posts. And I think that is the only way your rating will go down. Some senior say your rating goes down too if your posts deleted. But that is not a case in yours because your discussion still can be seen and respond to.
My rating also goes down a few days ago and I didn't post any new discussion since last month. I think someone doesn't like my post and give me a - rate.

In my understanding as long as you don't offend people with your response, there is no reason for giving a negative rank or feedback. I have read members who posted something vile and yet their ranks don't go down. Thank you for your response.

If you go to religious or politic interest, you can see a lot of members with lower rating. I read some of their posts and I think they just tell the truth. But, unfortunately it is against most of other believe and get the punishment with - rated posts. That's why I never post anything there.
In my case, my rating goes down, I think, because I posts something that no very pleasant to others in the football(soccer) interest. I just give my opinion on certain situation there but I still get the - rate from some of other team supporter. We can't always say something nice if we want to say the truth. Sometime the truth is the painful one. And they just can't accept it.

Really? I never notice anything on my rate that drag down. So in that case, we can't post recipe for cooking or maybe link is prohibited here. I think it's right to always remember the mylot rules for us not to violate.

Hi there anne, now days it happens regularly. There are some members who have a sadistic pleasure in giving a negative ratings to some of our discussions as well as responses. This happens particularly in the religious section. If you do not agree to some body's point, you usually get a negative rating.
It is a free and democratic forum, I do not know why some people derive a pleasure in giving negative ratings.

They do that because they know that they can. The negative rating is automatic and I don't think it is regulated by the admin of mylot. That's why there are some members who open discussions to rant about the people who give them negative points. Thank you for your response.

You see that always confused me... as other users said.. why have a section about cooking if you aren't allowed to post recipes... part of cooking.. well no.. cooking is about recipes lol... odd.. i wonder how much of my ranking dropped due to that because i asked about certain recipes and shared my own... hmm...

Recipes???? Well, you never know how dangerous that subject can be, I guess.... It does seem a little wierd, though.
It seems I am always going back and trying to figure out the rules. That's why I haven't started any discussions, though I enjoy posting to them.

Well, there are quite a few categories that need to be watched out for, things that you thought would be a nice discussion but then again, it is a violation of the discussion rules. Thank you for your response.

Thanks for sharing with us anne, that is something I did not know. I had read about not posting recipes, but you didn't really post a recipe, you merely discribed some methods and ingredients. This led to some discussion with other posters regarding favourite pickles and such. I don't understand why this would lead to a drop in your rank though.

Luckily I do not know much about cooking. Otherwise, I could have shared and posted some recipes considering that I have not read that its against the rules. Well, that is simply a lesson learned. It is really great of you to have shared such information. I am sure that many other people will appreciate your post. Keep on posting and I am sure that you will easily be back on track.

I do not know that as well.Thanks for sharing a little nut helpful tip to us. We all know that the admin is really strict in everything that we post. But I think it shouldn't be considered as part of the don't s since you just posted the instruction on how they will cook the specific product. Now, this time, since we already know about it, we will now be aware. I will keep in mind what you have said. thanks for sharing. happy mylotting!

I thought so too, and I am a bit wary now in posting and responding to discussions. We can't always check the rule book before posting responses. But I will be extra careful from now on. Thank you for your response.

That's right we can't make discussions about recipes. I don't know why, if we can't make recipe discussions then there shouldn't be a interest or shouldn't allow cooking as part of the interest because some might misunderstand it and allow people to make recipe's of their own. well, I was kinda shocked that you lost your blue star, users had been loosing stars lately.
