As we all know, milk is a nutritive drink. It is a habit of many people to drink a cup of milk in the morning. In addition, I heard that drinking a cup of milk could help people sleep well. But it is also said that a person will get fatter if he drinks a cup of milk before going to bed. These two statements bewilder me for a long time. So are you used to drink milk before going to bed? Whether it is a good habit or not?

Hi Simon1223 Waw, what a nice coincidence! It's late night here in my country and here I am, at my room, drinking hot chocolate milk while typing this response! Hmm.. I believe it contains good amount of calcium and I need it during my growth period. Yes, it affect my sleep, it makes me sleep faster and I wanna gain weight! I wanna to add more fat to my small body, so I try not to skip night without a glass of high-calcium milk I think it's a good habit, but I hear eat fruits before sleep is a good habit too. Now I'm confuse whether it's okay or not to eat fruits and drink milk at the same time?

hi chrysan It's also late night here and I decide to drink nothing but water tonight. You are still young and need a lot of nutritions, so drinking a cup of milk at night may be a good habit for you. In regard to fruit, it contains a lot of fructose which may be transformed into fat. But you needn't worry about it for you want to gain weight. I just want to remind you of something. Don't forget to brush your teeth after you eat fruits.

Hi starsailover Hahaha.. some of my friends say that too but you must now that gaining weight is sooo hard! Hmm, but I think you can still gain weight by drink low fat chocolate milk! Hi Simon Oh, so it's late night too? I will check your profile and see your timezone! hehehe.. Drink mineral water is very good, especially before and after sleep. I've read some articles,, they said that drink water in the morning before eat or drink anything before is good for our digestion. You're right about fruiits, I just thought about empty stomach condition as the good conditon for fruits, but forget about fructose..

I did it when i was a kid and it doesn't work for me. My tip to have a nice dream is to think about the possibility of traveling or in someone sexy lol, then i listen one of my favourite songs and that's it: you'll have a nice sleep without any feeling of guilt.

Hi starsailover Of course it won't work because you use the calm effect from milk to think about someone sexy Yea, sometimes our mind and problem can make us hard to sleep, and think about dreams and listen to a good song really help! Oh, and what song usually you hear before sleep? Is it pop, rock, fast or slow song? I make one folder in my cellphone for all slow songs that I hear to help me sleep,,hehehe

Personally speaking, reading a boring textbook is an effective way to help you fall asleep quickly.

I used to give my daughter a sippy cup with milk in it before bed for a while. I don't tend to drink milk before bed myself and neither does any of my family now. Having all that sugar sit in your teeth during the night is not a good idea. That's why I don't drink milk before bedtime now so no not a good habit.

In my view, whether you drink milk at night or not, brushing your teeth is a necessary step before you go to bed.

hello Simon, I think to have a cup of milk before going to sleep is a good habit, if you just have a cup of milk, it is definitely not going to make you fat, but if you have something together with milk, you definitely will get fat. I know some people prefer to have cookies, breads go together with milk, then I think that would help them get fat! It is a pity that I don't get myself a cup of milk every night, since milk is not cheap to me. And I dare not have milk currently, because of unqualified milk manufacturer expose previously.

I totally understand your worry about tainted milk. Food safety is continously a hot issue which attracts the attention of the public. I could say that nothing we eat and drink is absolutely safe, and it's impossible for you to eat and drink nothing. So long as you choose those famous brand food, the risk it causes to your health could be ignored.

Yes,I used to do it before but now I dont. I know that milk is very important diet and good for health also but my habit keeps changing. This is the first time i am hearing that a person will get fat by drinking milk and if you eat a meal at night, wont you get fat from that?

Maybe the reason is that the digestive system works slowly when somebody sleeps.

Dear friend, I never used to drink milk before going to bed. Only I used to drink milk is mostly when I wake up in the morning. Moreover I may drink few glasses of fresh drinking water before I go to bed that too if I feel thirsty.

I do not take milk before bed because if seems to thicken the mucus in the back of my throat which causes be to feel as if I am drowning when I lay down. My daughter will often drink milk before she goes to bed and it seems to help her sleep without any complications of weight gain. I suppose it would depend upon the individual as to if it would be a positive or negative experience.

I usually do drink a cup of chocolate milk once or twice a week during winter, that's because I'm always cold and it also helps me to sleep. I also love to drink hot chocolate, too bad both milk and chocolate have way too many calories, especially at nigt when you won't exercise. They go straigh to your hips eheh

When I was still a child my parents made sure that I had a glass of milk before I go to bed. But now, that I am much older, I only drink milk from time to time. I only make sure that I had water before I sleep.

Depends on mood. If you want to study till late night, then tea is best for you. But if you joined your bed, then milk is best for your health. I use both liquids according to my needs of night.

Drink a cup of milk will help you to have a comfortable sleep. Before I didn't get a good sleep at night, today, it's better now and I have a cup of milk to promote my sleeping. I think it's a good habit.

Actually, I don't really drink a glass of warm milk before I go to bed. I just never got into the habit. Although once in a great while when I'm really tired and can't go to sleep, I drink a coffee cup full of warm milk. I then feel sleepy and all warm inside. I just think drinking warm milk is a habit that's neither good nor bad. Although I think drinking warm milk is better than taking a sleeping pill.

You drink a cup of coffee and then feel sleepy? It sounds interesting. It seems that people usually drink coffee at night to keept them awake.

I don't drink milk on its own, but have a low-fat chocolate mix included with the milk. Have it hot, and usually have it within a quarter of an hour of going to bed. It seems to help me sleep more soundly, but I've no proof of that. I used to have a couple of pieces of toast last thing at night as well, but I've cut that out, as I've heard that the body doesn't digest food so well at night. Whether this is true or not, I can't be sure.

When I was small I used to drink milk before I go to bed. Now, I seldom drink milk even if I can't sleep it just doesn't work that well anymore. I would like to start drinking milk for the sake of my bones but I'm afraid I might have lactose tolerance so I just mix milk with coffee or chocolate drink. At least I can still have even a small amount of milk.

I think drinking milk is good for the body. I love drinking milk even if tons of people don't like milk. I never drink milk during nighttime. It is not because I will get fat or anything like that. I guess I am just used to drinking milk during breakfast. Anyway, I think drinking milk is a good habit even if it is night time before going to bed.
