I know Kmart still has it - or at least they did last Christmas. I think Deb stores have it as well - I know they have some sort of program about putting things on hold so I don't know if its exactly a layaway program or a we'll hold these for 1-2 weeks type deal. Most stores have just gotten rid of the idea because it is a lot of hassle, especially with people forgetting to make payments, or people making payments and finding out a week before Christmas the person already has it and they want their money back, etc.

i think that i should check out to see if they do. i hope that they do, because its so hard to come by stores that one can put things on layaway so that i can get them latter. i cant say that I've heard of debs store. i liked it because i could get a lot of things that i like and slowly pay it off and then when i did pay it off its a surprise to me when i see what i had picked out.

i still see stores that are offering layaway plans. i sometimes see them in malls here in the philippines and most are jewelry and appliance stores. i think that is a good thing for the customers who don't have ready cash nor credit card to pay these items. it is a good thing for the store owners too because they are assured of payment because the item can only be delivered once it is fully paid.

I do not know of any that do that any more, I used to use that service all the time especially for Christmas when i was doing my shopping it was easier to pick up stuff and put it in layaway and pay for it over a few months.
