Does all the Taxi persons are same?

One day I planned to go out with my girl friend to a movie. I started from my home and I have to pickup my girl friend from her hostel. She is staying with her friends in a hostel. The Hostel is located at outskirts of the city. I took a taxi from my house. Taxi man seems to be a bit tipicall person I came across. Now we are going to pick up my girl friend from her hostel. Finally after an hour we reached the hostel and picked her and we are on the way to a theatre rushing for a movie. In the mean while 2 other taxi's tracing our taxi from 10 mins or so. Taxi driver keep on talking from his mobile secretly while he was driving. At that time, I got a doubt on that taxi man and called up police since we are at city outskirts and that too two taxi's tracing us. Finally police traced our taxi and saved us from the thieves. The police investigated them and we came to know that all the three taxi drivers are thieves. Do you ever came across this situation or any of your friends came across this situation? At that situation what should we do to save our lieves?
