I always wanted a bird but people who've had birds in the past said they are very messy. Plus, I would feel bad keeping a bird in a cage and not allowing it to fly free. I thought that it would feel like keeping a dog chained up and not allowing him to run around.

sure. i dont mind. i dont think they would be much different from any other animal. all animals are a lot of work. i would buy a book on that bird so i can read up all about them and know how to properly take care of that bird.

I have had finches and they were a cheerful addition to the house, but very messy. I would never take on one of the long lived birds. They are very intelligent and need a lot of attention, plus you have to make arrangements for them after you are gone.

Personally i wouldnt have a bird i think its cruel to keep a bird in a cage that should be flying around in the wild!
