So the word is that Victor may be gone

Not because of death but because of a failure to reach an agreement with Eric Braeden who is quite miffed by the way some of the upper management at probably CBS are behaving toward the veterian actors on the show. So after 30 years Victor may be gone. Most likely this will not happen by the death of Victor but by him going off for an extended recovery from the heart transplant.

Wow, if they let Eric walk, I really wonder about the future of the show. I don't think there's a younger character that the show can really center on and count on to deliver consistently like Victor, Jack, and Katherine at this point. Victor's never been a favorite character for me (I usually root against him), but at the same time I can't imagine Y&R without him. It would be a shame to let him leave after so many years. You can't even compare Brad's leaving to Victor's...he's the character a lot of people immediately associate with Y&R. My guess is if he does leave he'll be asked back before too long, probably after a serious purging of the show staff.

Took the words right out of my mouth! You just can't replace or delete some characters "just like that". You have to have something to "replace" them with. On General HOspital, they do that about every 10 years or so... they have 2 feuding families for a while, then they start bringing on a new family and phasing out one of the existing familys and before you know it... it is now these two feuding families. Who is Jack going to fight with? Nick? Nick can't pour water out of a boot if the directions were written on the heel. And the "4 Musketeers"... they make them just so silly and mindless... they are funny to watch, but not a "main characters". Jill and Gloria could be a powerhouse duo - let them get in cahoots together on the nail saloon and bring it to the ultimate company - and let them fight with Jack!! That's be cool! But that is all I can come up with if they have no "victor newman"... and his kids.. they'll be destitute as they can't run Newman Ent.

Now who is Jack going fight with Victor leave town. I wonder if Niki will be going with him or Ashley and the baby. Sometimes I get tired of the Victor and Jack storyline but it does keep thing interesting.

Yeah, it is the Newmans against the Abotts... that is what Y&*R is... take one away and what have you got? Not much other than 4 over-aged teenagers doing supid things and getting into trouble all the time and spoiled kids that have no other talent than their last name to count on. I think Ashley will leave VIctor and Niki will go back to him...as usual. They really need to give Victor a break.. he has done so many rotten things and gotten away with all of them... kind of annoying to me. What's the point of the character. He can do literally anything, and get away with it.

I read that a couple of weeks ago and was waiting to see if they would reach an agreement. I bet they won't kill him off, but like you said, send him off somewhere...
