Any Tourist who has visited London has probably seen the famous Statues of the Lions around Nelson's Column in Trafalgar square..but did You know there was an empty plinth there for a Statue that never got commissioned? An Arts initiative called "One and Other" has been running through summer 2009 and will end mid october, giving members of the public an hour on the plinth 24/7 for 100 days to do whatever they want..and it's being covered by webcam! Google "One and Other"..Sky TV's Arts channel is covering the event online..at Least,You'll get a live webcam over Trafalgar square!
Have You visited London Recently,as I have? Did You see this Plinth,or the current resident? Share!

Visiting my Brother over there,I've done various touristy things at different times..the London Eye,The Tate Museum,Hyde Park, Oxford St..this time was my first time on a boat on the Thames,(to go to the Greenwich Observatory)and as most of my family was there this time,We decided to take a tour bus around the attractions..if You don't like walking, the bus was a worthwhile investment, getting you around as much as possible in a Short space of time..
Here's a Pic going down the river ..

I wish I could post video on here...We went down the river from the "Embankment" on a surprisingly fast catamaran river boat to Greenwich..the various barges that are moored mid river were going "past" like speedboats! The "Cutty Sark" is hidden from external view by a "Tent",and is reportedly about 2 years away from completion of it's rebuild following the 2007 fire that damaged Her,and the restoration that was under way at the time.. Did You see the Camera Obscura at the observatory? Was interesting to see,but there were so many visitors going in and out,my eyes never got a chance to adjust to the darkened room to see it properly..A neat souvenir was a printout certificate from a machine that gave the precise time of Your visit to "The Line"..

I have not been to see anybody on the plinth's but, an old colleague of mine took part! I am not quite sure what he did for the hour - i think he just held up banners regarding peace and the like!!

Take a look at the site! I was checking the webcam (Live),and there's a Woman sat there knitting at the moment..it looks as though they've archived each person's hour up there, you can search by date and hour..I was trying to spot this guy in a Green T-Shirt that was up there on the day we passed through the Square on a Tourbus-Maybe You could see Your Friend doing his thing!
