Mixing Pepsi/Coca Cola with Mint sweets!!

I was watching a TV channel yesterday. I was shocked when they broadcast a warning not to mix soft drinks and mint sweets! They showed a few mint sweets being mixed in the soft drink bottles. the bottles were capped for just 1 minute and opened. A powerful gush of exploding gas shot 3 feet up into the air!!! If the gas could be so powerful in the bottle, imagine what would happen to kids who consumed them unknowingly?
