Just What Kind Of Aviation Authority Are We Having Here?

3 people were killed in a rather bizarre crash when their plane stunt went horribly wrong. The fatal accident not only caused the lost of lives but an extensive period of shut down on the main London to Scotland railway line causing travel chaos for thousands of rail passengers.
What is even more disturbing of this whole incident is that the aircraft maintenance records for the plane in this crash according to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) were incomplete and did not show that the required maintenance had been correctly performed.
Yet, unbelievably the aircraft held a non-expiring certificate of airworthiness issued on March 19 2008 and an airworthiness review certificate which was valid until March 17 2009.
Shocked yet?
No?
The AAIB further found that the pilot's licence had been validated until January 2003 and according to the Civil Aviation Authority records, his last recorded medical examination was in 1995 and his medical validity expired in 1997. Furthermore, the pilot was actually attempting a flying stunt when the crash happened and guess what?
The AAIB said that: 'There was no evidence that the pilot had received training in performing aerobatic manoeuvres.'
Wow! Can you believe this? How can the aviation authorities be so casual here? To think that they are also involved with the commercial airlines aircrafts and pilots as well, just sets me thinking and it is nothing favorable at this moment.
Unbelievable@!

Sometimes I feel that I no longer know my country of origin. We were so proud to be British and valued everything that was British made and we expect and received excellence in all areas. what has happened? I value the info that you give as I do not have the time to read the British newspapers daily. Perhaps I skim headlines once a week if that.
But I feel that i cna no longer trust my country and that is so bad to feel that way. Dont stop bringing their craziness to light please.

cynthiann,
I do not understand any of it all as well especially having spent sometime there in the past, I just cannot believe just how much have regressed.
I just do not understand how the authorities are so oblivious to the extent "blind" when they go about with their duties. Air crashes could be devastating not only with the people in the plane but there are lives on the ground as well. How could they be so ignorant and negligible at the same time certainly beats me.
Let's hope that there will be an international independent body set up soon to audit and ensure that these people are really carrying out their job and not some going through the motion.
