My mom passed away 2 weeks ago. And we got a huge Mum say 5-10gallon it weighs atleast 50lbs with some ornimental grass in the middle. I need some opinions on what I can do with it.
I wanted to plant it in my flower bed in the back yard. However, they are forecasting snow showers around sunday or mondayish. That is no way long enough for the plant to get established. And if I planted it and we still did ok with the showers (probably will melt it is only October afterall) would the plant survive or come back next year?
Or
would I be better off bringing it inside and whatever will be will be?

I would also lay a Layer of maybe 6 inches of mulch as well.
Good luck. Hope this helps aty least a little.

My mom just recently got a Mum and the guy at the flower store basically told her to really cover it with leaves to protect it from the winter, then to uncover it in the spring. I would plant it and then cover it right away if you think snow is coming.

if they're forcasting snow,i'd hold off.
i think mums are perennial, but being just transplanted,a frost might be too much for their first year.

I have one mum plant that has been coming up for 3 years. They do come back year after year, but if I knew snow was coming I wouldn't plant it until when it was a bit warmer. Even though I have seen some folks plant them right during a hard frost and they still came up. But I would recommend mulching.
