I had a huge change of heart recently, all my life ive had dogs, And i hated cats!!! I thought they were nothing but vermin, Last year after having to have our last dog put down, my partners friends cat had a litter of kittens and the next day i came home to find a little bundle of black fur on my settee???At first i wasnt very happy and had to take him to the vets and get all his needles and be neutered. I decided if were keeping him he would be an indoor cat as the reason i hated cats was the flea issue and the diseases they pick up outside. Anyway ive had him a year now and i love him! he is the most loving and peaceful pet ive ever had!He is my little baby! We also aquired a new puppy recently and to be quite honest i dont know how i ever prefered dogs to cats??? The new dog we have distructs our house wants to eat everything, runs away, bites everyone, and is so over excited she gives a jack in the box a run for its money!!! Ive decided its my partners responsibility to look after the dog and mine to look after my lovely cat!! what does everyone else think???

There's an expression: Cat's don't read and they don't want you to read either. Have you noticed how sweet and cuddly they get when you pick up some reading material?

Definately a dog person!! I haven't got one at the moment as the house we are in is not suitable, but i really want one again. You put a lot more in but get a lot more out, dogs listen to you and are great companions, wheras catds just stroll around like they own the place! Dogs do need training, but once they are there they are great. I've heard it said, dogs have owners but cats have servants!! it certainly seems true from what i have seen!

I can half agree with you on that one, yes sometimes i am a bit of a servant as pharoh will whine and whine to be fed before any other family member!! but then again so does the dog? I think with me soley having dogs all my life ive brought my cat up like a dog lol, he fetches, plays, talks to me and the best thing is he tells me when he wants something or when hes ill, dogs dont do this you have to figure it out for yourself x

my mates cat follows her to the bus stop like a dog! I can't wait to get a puppy!!

I know my cat is like my shadow, he greets me at the front door then follows me round the house like a sheep he even comes to bed with me and unlike a rowdy dog my cat just sleeps on my feet at the bottom of the bed, if i tryed to let our dog in the room shed be on our heads haha! good luck with finding the puppy you want with the right lifestyle youll be fine like i say i just havnt got the time or patience for a dog right now and thats why i stick to my cat and my partner tends to the dog as like kost men he doesnt wash, clean, iron and has more time on his hands to look after the dog.x

I like both, but if i was honest then i would have to say a cat person as i have six cats as well as three dogs.Cats are alot easier for me as i have a problem walking and can not walk my dogs.Where as a cat can let it self in and out as it pleases.I also think cats are funny as they keep themselves amused with silly things like a hanging bit of cotton.

Yorkie - Tiny Yorkie
Hi vikkiz I too didn't like cats at first. Then when I was a lot younger a cat wonder into my life. He ended up being my best friend at the time. I now adore cats of any kind. They do have a unique way about them. But I will have to say, that when I get that special love one it have to be a Yorkie. I have feel in love with those little dogs..Maybe sometime soon I can say that I am a proud owner of one. Have a great day.

I've always been a dog person. Ever since I was born we've always had at least one dog and even been up to five at one time in the house. I really like the companionship that they provide. However, as I am getting older, I find that I am also starting to like cats. We've got two dogs of our own right now and we are considering getting a cat as well. The only reason that we haven't got a cat at this point is that we really want to get a calico kitten and they really aren't all that easy to find. My mother-in-law just recently got a new kitten (she was brought to her when she was just a few weeks old, injured and sick and even too young to eat kitten food), well she nursed Lily back to health and the first time I saw that little kitten was the first time that I've ever really liked a cat.

I think everyone needs to own one before they make judgement, cats are very very self centred too look at if you dont know that cat, once you get one they are actually very very family orientated, mind you my cat is a house cat so i dont know it outdoor cats may act differently with them being out in the wild all the time, My cat is just a lap cat and i love him loads, i too was also brought up with dogs and still do like them but with work, kids housework, social gatherings (when i get time) a dog is just too much for me to cope with! Its the same when we go on hoilday we either have to get a family memeber to watch her for a week or we have to pay for her to go into a shelter for a week which obviously distresses dogs!, whereas my cat can be left in the house as long as someone pops in once a day to feed him and water him and hes very content with it!!

I like dogs. They're perky, well most of them, and playful in a fast paced kind of way. They run around everywhere and barks at strangers. I like to play fetch with them. The maintainance should be high of course like you have to train them to where they should pee and poop. If the dog gets used to where they should pee and poop, it's all easy. I've had a dog once and at the beginning, she just pees everywhere. Even on my lap (God! it stunk!) but as time went by with me training her to where her toilet should be, it got a lot easier.

The toileting is great with my dog, its the distructive behaviour that is annoying me and the constant need for 24/7 attention!!! even though she gets two 1 hour walks a day the my 4 year old will be home with school and she gets about 4 hours play from him, the me and my partner give her a bit play in the garden, but she still isnt tired and will sit in front of you whining and whining for attention like i said earlier she is very hyper and even the vet has commented on how we will have our work cut out with this one!

I am an all round animal lover but I have an affinity for cats, I love them! I have only two because my husband won’t let me have anymore! We also have a dog and yes I love her too but she is outside most of the time because the last time she was indoors she literally ‘ate’ our vertical blind because it was over the sliding door and she wanted to go outside! As a puppy, although cute, she was messy, destructive and difficult to train. Don’t get me wrong I adore my dog but my two kitties are special, they are sophisticated, enigmatic, clean and beautiful animals, and to those who say cats don’t get attached to their owners, I say you’re wrong! Oh...To answer your question; I am a cat person!

Omg you must be my twin!!! I totally agree!!! Our dog is exactly the same and even though i do love her and i know she isnt being distructuve on purpose i love my cat sooo much more and its exactly like you say i have a special bond with him, he has accepted the new dog but wont tolerate anything or anyone else, he hates my partner lol he just loves me and im fine with that!!! Mind you he will let my 4 year old drag him round so he aint all that bad lol

Hi! I've always been a dog lover, and in general, I never liked cats. I don't know exactly why. I once caught a cat stealing a newly fried fish from the kitchen! I have two dogs now. One is 7 years old, the other one is 5 months old :) I love them both, and I do know they love me too :) Bucket (my 7-year-old dog) got scratched by a cat once, and I think that was one reason why I dislike cats. But I remember an incident when I was still small... My dad used to work overseas, and every vacation time, we were given a chance to go there. He had friends who worked in palaces, and I remember that in one house, there was a really beautiful cat. When I asked whose cat it was, they answered it was a princess' cat, and she was just left to roam around the houses in the palace grounds. It was really gentle, and it almost licked me when I stared at it really closely. I was able to cuddle her too :) But I am and always will be a dog lover :) And perhaps a liker of that cat I once met :)

I think cats give off that impression as i hated cats too before i got landed with pharoh! i think once youve actually owned a cat its different, mind you they arnt all perfect even though my moggy is perfect and never causes any sort of trouble my friend recently got a new cat and it had distructed her house!!! i couldnt have put up with that, i still hate cats outside and still let the dog out to chase them from my back garden lol, its just my moggy i love.

I would say both. I like dogs more than cats though. Cat's are really not that fun to play with but to mess around with yeah. Than a dog is playful and joyful and stuff all the time. But untill they go over the limit and get annoying. They should make dogs that don't bark and cat's that don't shed. That would be a miracle. ^^

My cat is short haired so i dont really get that problem, and yes dogs go way over the top!! when i tell my cat to ''STOP'' he does just that, Cats arnt as stubborn as they make out to be and can be trained exactly like a dog :)

I am definately a CAT person. I don't totally dislike dogs, but there are many reasons why I don't prefer them to cats. Cats are cool. They are independent, cute, clean, never smelly, and very smart and lovable. Dogs have always been to me, to be very dependent, large, smelly, messy, loud, and far more costly, both in energy and money. Plus, I have a slight fear of German Shepards... I kid you not, I have been attacked at least 5 times in my life-time by a German Shepard! So yes, I am very nervous aroud them, and many big dogs that I do not know. So yes, my siblings are beginning to call me crazy cat lady, for when i get older... If I don't get married soon and have a hubby and a dog, along with my cat. :-) Good discussion. I hope everyone has it in their hearts though to be mindful, and careful of both mans most beloved pets.

I agree!!! when paying for cat flea treatment it is 10 pound cheaper than dog flea treatment, when buying cat food it costs me 30 pound cheaper per month than my dog, But with dogs you have the extra costs of buyin more and more crates as they get bigger, more and more collars and leads, poop bags, bed etc etc Whereas my cat never distructs anything he owns and even keeps his toys in reasonable condition, cats are far more cheaper than dogs! They are also soooo much less hassle and i think i love my cat more for that exact reason, when i get in from work and i cook tea for the family then i have to put my son to bed and son on after all that i cant be bothered with th dog jumping all over me, wanting to play, wanting treats, wanting walks and just wanting my downright attention 24/7, My cat on the other hand reads me like a book and comes over climbs on my lap and purrs away in a quiet mannor, sooo tranquil.

I am definitely a dog person. I've never liked cats. Cats are just boring to me. I prefer dogs because they are more playful, energetic, and loving. Cats seem to just eat, sleep, and cause trouble. I like kittens, but not cats. I guess I'm just more of a cuddly, loving animal type.

cats are cuddly and loving!!! well mine is anyway, sometimes i get too much love from him and have to put him down lol, i prefer to cuddle a nice fluffy cat that can fit on my lap as opposed to a big burly dog who just wants to jump all over you and slobber!! lol
