Or 'Manny' as I believe they are called. I couldn't believe my ears when someone told me that their children were being looked after a 'male' nanny. Would you employ a nanny who was male, or do you think nannies should ALWAYS be female?

Freddy Prinze Junior - Freddy Prinze Junior as a "manny" with Friends characters Ross and Rachel
I have no kids but I would have no hesitation in employing a male nanny if I did have kids. I always remember the Friends episode when Ross and Rachel hired a male nanny (I think he was played by Freddy Prinze Junior) and Ross couldn't handle having a male around the house who was so sensitive! It was a funny episode but did make me think that more guys would have a problem with a male nanny than women would in general:) How do you feel about male nannies yourself then wolfie hun? x

I did actually think this one over, for being a male nanny myself, it was my tutor who suggested it to me at the time, I laughed at first but she said NO, they were genuinely male nannies! It was another option for me but I was very reluctant because of the stigma attached hence the discussion topic but I've had a lot of positive feedback!

No not me. Not that I think males are not capable. Cos my hubby is extremely capable and my father as well. My father looked after my son until he was 7 months. Its just wired i think. Specially when the kids are so small (infants) This is only what I think. So males, dont be angry with me please.

No I do not think so. I do not trust men in general. They are awkward in taking care of children.Infact instead of nanny I will prefer keeping grandparents with me to help me out, Nothing like there love for kids

I think men are perfectly capable just like women. I have met men in my life who were better nurturers than many other women I have met... No they should not all have to be female, if a Male Manny likes to do this job an does it well.. who is to discriminate based on his gender. - DNatureofDTrain

I would not go by gender, Brian. I would look at qualifications and i would see how the nanny interacted with my children. I am a good judge of character. So I would be bale to tell. I might check in on them throughout the day and ask my children how they got along with that nanny but i would do that with any nanny. Sheesh wish I could have afforded a nanny when my boys were little.
