im from the philippines..our house got flooded during typhoon ondoy 2weeks ago. waist-deep inside our house (chest deep outside) was a big shock for us because we never experienced any other flooding before, not even an inch.. though we can actually be considered lucky because there are a lot more people who suffered/are still sufferring worst than what we had but still people in our village are in trauma..a lot of children here got sick after the event and are afraid to go out already.. a lot of people cry everytime it drizzles and people start to panic when rain falls heavily..everyone started panic-buying and all we listen to is the news..we all learned that we weren't ready for any disasters but how do we go back to our old selves? or at least how do we live normally from now on? how do we deal with trauma? though it's a good thing to always be ready, i don't think it's normal to live with fear forever.help!

Hi calai, my thoughts and prayers are with you st this disasterous time. There is no way I could suggest how to deal with such a trauma, as it's something I've not experienced.

hi mipen2006! thank you so much. i understand what you mean. there are really a lot of people who are lucky and blessed enough not to experience such disasters. i just hope that people like you would learn something from our experiences so all of us can benefit from these sort of disasters. i actually believe that these events are still positive because they open our eyes about things that we might have overlooked and make us realize that we are all just human, everything can be taken away from us. Take care!
