need ideas to make a german shepard happy

ok a tentant of mine has a german shepard her name is loulou. she followed some kids home from the lake one day and just stuck around the apartment complex she was just a few months old. one tentant took her in afer about a week of him noticing she wasnt leaving. i took over the property here about a month after all of this. well he takes great care of her and she loves him dearly. he is her one and only and he loves her as well. well he has been without work for a few months now and there is not alot of jobs in this town so he got a job offer and he has to go to an academny for 5 weeks he is going to be a correctional officer at a prison. we offered to take her during this time so he can do this then he will either get a house there for the two of them or will be gone 4 days and home 3 days to stay here with her. alot of places wont let you have this big of a dog. he can stay in a dorm there the four days then keep his aparmtent here. well he is gone 5 days now and comes home to be with her for the weekend. that is called love considering it is a 4 hour drive one way and he only does it for her. well he left out today again and she is so sad. we love on her and play with hr and run with her and give her treats snuggle everything we can think of but she is just sad. he left his blanket for her and all her toys and her food bowl. and she is use to us cause ever since we got here she has mplayed with my teenagers and comes over every morning for breakfast and night for dinner and her owner has became my husbands bestfriend too. any ideas though to make her alittle happier?
