So, I was watching this movie today, and the cops in the movie find a dead guy in a car who had been shot to death. The man also happened to be black. When the one cop called it in, he said, "male.........African-American......5'10".......etc." I also notice this on the news. Let's say a black person commits a crime or a black person is missing........they always list them as African-American under the description. Why is it be assumed that just because they're black they must be African-American??? How do we know they're not Jamaican-Brazilian??? Or French-Somalian??? Or Cuban-Antarctican??? And if they're a U.S. citizen, shouldn't they just be American.....maybe black American........but American all the same. I mean we don't call a white man Irish-American or English-American or Scandinavian-American, so why is it we classify a black person as African-American??? I know there's such a thing as dual citizenship but I highly doubt the vast majority of black people in this country are also citizens of Africa. Maybe I should have posted this under "Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmmm" How do you like your coffee???

I completely agree with you sconibear. I actually had a real good response to this discussion figured out over the weekend but since I couldn't post it then I had to wait and now I can't remember what I was going to say.
