Popularity of soccer in the US

Will soccer ever command a strong following in America to rival the traditional disciplines such as baseball, even if the senior men's team does extremely well in top competitions such as the Soccer World Cup?

It might but USA has many more followers first in baseball, football and basketball after soccer.
They have a very good team that's going to the World Cup, hopefully that will elevate the enthusiasm for soccer followers.
