BUGS! Yes, bugs. Bugs are the future of eating. That yummy burger, that delish ham, possibly even that roasted turkey will be things of the past. Also you can forget that zesty fish, for you will be passing that up for grasshopper meatballs. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/10/magazine/10wwln-essay-t.html?_r=4&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print insects, bugs, dinner, being green, ecology, life, people, sustainability,

I think we are already eating a lot of "bugs". It all depends on what we call bugs. Have you eaten snails? They are exquisite. We eat all kinds of sea animals besides fish. And also algae. Crabs are a delicacy. Aren´t they "bugs"? I heard once that some people eat cockroaches; other people eat snakes. I have eated frog legs among other curious food. I´m sure the hamburgers we can buy at the super are made from many meats we wouldn´t like to know. They don´t taste at all like homemade ground meat hamburgers. I wouldn´t want to eat spiders though.

For the most part, my budget will not allow for the foods you mention. * Sea farming perhaps inland will bring down the cost of some of the sea food you mention. Even ground beef is beyond my budget. * As for acclimating Americans into bug eating, it must be done gently to get past the 'Eww' factor. Hidden insects might work best first, as 'natural fat free alternitives' or low cost, all natural substitute for high cost ingredients.

I think we're all headed for serfdom, so yes maybe we should know about all natural edibles. (Maybe I'll become a vegetarian!)

hi craftycorner on no I will not, I will never eat a bug I would go vegetarian first believe me. I know a lot of people in other countries eat all sorts of weird bugs but I do draw the line at eating bugs, no way Jose I will never consume a bug willingly.

Bugs ? I think that is popular in Thailand, though I really don't like them. Some of my friends say that fried bugs are really tasty especially when you eat them with salt, there are like french fries to them. I think they have a strange taste though I do know that they are edible.

Bugs are popular in more places than they aren't. Cricket meatballs, if one carefully removes and or grounds up the crunchy bits, can be hard to tell apart from turkey or beef meat balls. The main difference is the fat content and the carbon foot print.
