I'm so sick of hearing people call genres or artists they don't like "not music." Please. That is such an immature thing to say. Show some respect. There are people out there that like music that you don't like, or else it wouldn't exsist. If you don't like it, just say you don't like it! You dont have to go on rants saying how "inferior" or "unprofessional" some genres are- they're not going to do anything but make you look like a closeminded idiot. :)

There are certain basic precepts which enable something to be defined as music. These include the fundamental rules of harmony and counterpoint. There is also the simple requirement of singing and/or playing in tune. If something does not follow these rules, I do not define it as music. Full stop.

It is sad that some people live for putting art forms down. Not all art is for everybody. If you don't like it doesn't mean it is inferior. It just means it isn't for you. There are so many genres of music that Everyone that likes music should be able to find one they like.

as a heavy metal fan, i find that i have to defend the genre constantly. the only reason why i do this is not to validate my preference, but to take someone down a notch or two. i only listen to metal, and i do not like other types of music, but see this is my thing, i will only refer to something as not being real music it is is lyrically weak, and there is a heavy use of computer synthesizing and not actual normal vocals that have not been tweaked. that is the only time that i will do this. even though i do not like other genres, i do appreciate a good song from an purely aesthetic perspective. i do appreciate good lyrics, instruments and vocal talent.

I agree with you. I have been dispraised by many people about my music and it has taken me to a point, where I just don't want to listen to music through speakers and loud. I better keep it to myself and be happy with it :)
