Okay, since I spend so much time at Facebook, and have become addicted to the games, thought, well why not take advantage of my new addiction and write an overall article about Facebook...so far I've found great facts about it in general, like when it started and why and how. But I want to include mentioning of the games and so far can't find or pinpoint just WHEN the different games appeared since I never paid attention much to Facebook until rather recently when I started playing the different games. So since many of you are at Facebook, do any of you remember when the different games first appeared, like YoVille, Mafia Wars, Cafe World,...etc, etc.?? I'm also actually trying to do..uh, cough, cough research into the games and why I spend so much time there (good excuse right?) would really appreciate the help here

Hi pye, Cafe World and Rollcoaster Kingdom are both brand new Zynga games. They each started on Facebook about 2 weeks ago. I was on Cafe World within days of the launch, so I'll check back in my history to give you a more accurate date. As for some of the other games, I am not sure of how long they have been around, although I know Farmville & Yoville are still relatively new compared to say Mafia Wars which has been around a long time. I'll do some "research" with my hard-core Mafia fanatics for you and see if they know when Mafia Wars first appeared on Facebook. If I find out any more information, I'll PM it to you. P.S. Don't worry, you're not the only one addicted to the games, lol! *blushes, hangs head* TAKE CARE :)

Thanks ever...that would be great if you could find out. It does seem the zynga line of games add more all the time. Yeah, Mafia Wars does seem to have been around a long time...kept getting invites from my friends but never joined up until relatively recently

I don't like to contradict people to often but Rollercoaster Kingdom has been on facebook for longer than 2 weeks. I do not know exactly how long it has been on there but I have had that game on fb for at least a little over a month if not 2 months.

It's possible that I overlooked it before then as it is one of the few Zynga games that I do not play, although one of my friends just recently sent me an invite.

Yes, I remember when the different games appeared on facebook...YoVillie the biggest recent change is the Sweets factory that most everyone hates. They also complain about seeing more items costing regular money instead of being able to use Yovillie coins to buy them. I could go on and on.

I've noticed that's the real downside of most of the games over there, that if you want "cash" money rather than coins, one has to actually "buy" the cash with paypal or a credit card...somehow that doesn't seem right

LOL - sorry no help here just joined Facebook a few months ago myself and login maybe once a week :( Just too busy with other things to spend time there - ok I know I could easily become addicted to the games and wouldn't get anything else accomplished :( Am sure you will do a great job on the article though even without my help :) and have fun at the same time... Maybe I should come up with something fun to 'research' cough cough like 'single men over 50' or 'best place in the world to find chocolate' :)

Just may have to do that although I'm guessing the chocolate one would be more enjoyable and 'safer' :)

I think if you type in the name of the game in the search bar at the upper right corner, it will take you to all the pages they are on. You might be able to find when it was started there. But, you may have to go really far back inside the "Group" or "Application" by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and keep hitting "Older Posts" or whatever is at the bottom. Or, it may just be in that first page somewhere. There may also be an email address to the creator of the game and you might try shooting them a message asking when they originated their game. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I am a huge FB game addict too!

Goodness that would take forever to hunt old posts...I actually tried contacting Zynga to ask them when their games first appeared at Facebook, but there was no real direct way to do that--at least not an email address

Well, I used to be very 'in' on facebook but not anymore. =) I know exactly how attractive it was. We spent a lot of times only on facebook and left the work out undone. When it comes to its games, I can't help but interested to it. The only reason you like the facebook's game is because you find the game is good, you think it is good for spending your spare time and just stay there forever unless you get bored. =)

Well, I'm afraid I won't be much help to you on this one. I did have a face book account but I hardly ever visited there. I finally closed the account when a young friend of mine requested me as a friend there. She is a minor and I am sure she set up her account without her parents permission. I know for a fact that they would not have approved. Anyway I got to thinking that I was setting a bad example by having an account there so I closed it.

How old is she? I just hope she doesn't bump into any weirdos that prey on minors

She's about 14 I think but very responsible for he age. I was just shocked though that she had an account because in our congregation we are warned strongly about getting involved in wrong doing by using the computer and these social networking sites are reported as very dangerous for young people especially. That's why I decided that my having an account there was possibly a bad influence. I would not want to be the one that led her into a dangerous position so I deleted my account. The only thing is I'm not sure if deleting an account actually removes it or does it just remove my ability to access it.

I'm also actually trying to do..uh, cough, cough research into the games and why I spend so much time there (good excuse right?) LOL yes that is a perfect excuse LOL! I honestly dont know where you could find out the info you're looking for in all honesty..unless maybe you contacted each individual creator maybe but even then you might not find or get the info you are looking for....

Someone suggested the idea of going back to old posts to find out when people/friends started inviting me to join this game or that game..yeesh, that would take forever!

Hi Pye I am also addicted to the game Farm Town. I have been a member for a while but never spent much time there. It says the games are not a part of facebook, at least that's what it says about Farm Town. As for the others I haven't tried any yet. I did get to play Bingo and won a game. 1 out of 3 isn't bad since it is free. I will have to take a closer look at the games. Come join me in Farm Town and become my neighbor.

Yes many of the games really don't belong to Facebook per se...like all the zynga games...that's actually a separate website one can join, but think it's more fun to join via Facebook where one can interact with fellow Facebook friends.

Hmmm.... I would have to go back and take a look at when everyone started the invites for those games. Usually I go to mindjolt games and play those on facebook and see if I can beat my own scores, once in a while I'll see if I can beat one of my friends' scores there, but I have more fun just playing them. At least I'm not the only one that goes there to play games.....So you'll have to let us know where to find the article you do on it!

My problem is that I think I deleted the very early invites to join people of games since I just wasn't interested at the time...most likely the article when I finish it will appear at Associated Content

I play bejeweled and that is totally addicting. Then there's farkle...

They do seem to be adding new games just about everyday...hard to keep track. I'm not even aware of the jolt games though...
