People make fun of me because I do not watch TV

I am a person with a lot of interests and I am always on the go and always busy doing something or pursuing a hobby. I read, write, do photography, blogging, walking, hiking, camping among many other things and I know I am a very smart and interesting person. I find it hard to carry on a conversation with most people because all they want to talk about is soap operas and TV shows which do not interest me in the least bit. I have no problem with them having their own interests but when I tell them I can not contribute to their conversations because I do not watch TV, they laugh at me and ridicule me. Why is this??? I have interests and live life to the fullest instead of sitting in front of a box and I am in the wrong??? Isn't that kind od backwards?? I do not have time to watch TV and I am too busy enjoying life to do so but people think of me as bad or something because I do not do this. Shouldn't I be admired for living life to the fullest, for volunterring in my community, for doing good things?? It is very frustrating because these people think they are right when they do absolutely nothing for themselves or anyone else. All they do is Veg in front of a box. I am getting sick of being made fun of for being a good person and for living my life.

That's pretty sad when artificial interests have overcome a love for living. I'm like you, I don't watch much television. I have my favorite shows but they take up no more than 4 hours a week. Even that is too much! But living by myself, it gives me a little break from reality.
Those people are pathetic, find yourself some different friends. Join a photography club or other social organization of people that know how to live.
I believe that your friends are a look into the future. Our governments want a nation of sheep that don't like to think and it looks as if they're getting it!

So true! That is exactly what the government wants. Sheep are too stupid and zoned out in front of the TV to think for themselves. While these people are paying attention to the tube, the gov will be doing it's thing and no one will speak up because they were too lazy to notice...next thing you know we'll all be in concentration camps!
