It is a world heritage, but still it is from Indonesia. I think it's like now the world has recognised it as ours and we have to be proud just like you said. Hurray to batik!

I visited Sumatra in Indonesia when I was 21 years old. I have seen photos of batik in art books because I am a teacher. It looks like really lovely pictures with patterns. I am interested in finding out more about it. I like to see traditional arts when I go to different countries.

YEah, ever since the scandal about it concerning malaysia, everybody knows that batik is from indonesia, and it has got a very strong culture behind it.. hehe ^_^ Batiks are nice, and they are usually more popular among the older ple, due to their generation.. As for younger ple now, they go for fashion, and thus they no longer wear it as much except for those big days.. hehe ^_^

Oh, 40% of my wardrobe are batiks! I wear batik to work on Friday, I have batik maternity wears, bedsheet, pyjamas etc. I am a batik lover, I think I am influenced by my mom. She loves batik so much, eventhough we are not javanese lol. She said batik is very comfortable to wear. She collects batik since years ago. I wonder if there are batik for newborns available to buy for my upcoming baby lol.

Hello srikandi,as Malaysian I feel little bit confused because batik also used by most Malay people.Based on history hundred years ago there are huge imigrants from Indonesia accross to Peninsular Malaysia.Their also bring along with them batik cloth. So for me it's does not matter who have the right on batik. As long as we are 'serumpun'.

Its okay friend ... batik can wear by all people , and I think Indonesia citizen must be proud with their tradtional art, not waiting world be know the arts. several years ago, young people is shy to wear Batik (include me), now we start loving the Batik. I hope Malaysia have different Batik style and make more rich of Batik style.
