My wonderful son has come to the rescue, our computer was full of virus and he has spent days trying to fix it, I think that this is finished, but I am not saying this very loud. But I do feel all the virus protection in the world that you buy is immediately out of date and there are virus creators just waiting to find a way around the newest and most expensive virus protection programs, for all I know the virus makers and the protectors are one and the same, that way they keep getting paid for their new programs. If I seem a little bitter it's because I have just finish updating my protection programs and then this happened. Oh well life goes on. Frustrated.

Use a pc for internet, dont shop on it, use another just for shopping, then use another for gaming, thats the best way to avoid virus's, or get a mac much more secure not fool proof, but lots less things to deal with.

If only we could afford to do this. We only halve our home PC available to us. Thanks

People who spread viruses are quite smart and think of new ways to spread them in spite of all the protection devices there are. It might be a good idea to learn how to cure your computer of viruses yourself and then just do it whenever its necessary.

Viruses suck. Anti-viruses who cant do nothing but just stare and slow your computer down suck even more. The even more suck-ier are the Virus makers. If you need to kill viruses, you may contact me for my services. Take care

Then you are now virus free. But it's for time being. You use internet. So in future again your computer will invite virus.

im sorry that this happens to your computer. I am also a believer that the virus maker and the virus protector are just the same. I have worked with an antivirus company as a call center agent here in my place and we kept getting calls about the same issue all of the time. The same name of the virus too. Once i checked my friend who uses another type of software and then she doesnt have the virus on her computer. So theres no doubt that they are just one.

I think that theres so many viruses out there and new ones coming out everyday that its hard for the legit antivirus creators to keep up. However i do think that some Antivirus software companies might be party to some of the viruses being created. Often i find the people who come in with viruses are people who are doing alot of downloading, online games and things like msn/yahoo chat through messenger or facebook/myspace and the like. Often those are ones were a friend sends a link (the virus is actually sending it) and they trust the link because a friends name is on it and they get it too and it goes on down the line.

That's the crazy thing about viruses, there's always a new virus being found and new viruses are being created all the time by malicious users. I personally use Norton 360 and thankfully I have never suffered with viruses on my present system. I like the fact that it constantly updates itself every few seconds so hopefully it's keeping ahead of what's really going on out there in terms of viruses. Andrew

Computers, especially ones that are ‘sick’ sure are frustrating! I have free antivirus and spyware programs on my computers and once a week I scan everything, give them a ‘clean’, de frag etc and so far so good. I don’t know if there is a one hundred percent foolproof way of keeping a computer totally safe because new viruses come up all the time, we can only do our best for as little cost as possible! Hope your PC will be fine for a long time now!

Your right savypat. There is no real virus proof protection. It is out of date the moment we install it. Glad your up and running again.

Ugh, Pat. What would we do without computer savvy friends or relatives?? I use McAfee at the moment, and I always have it set to "auto update." Viruses pop up daily in this age, and so does my mcafee updater, actually numerous times a day! And I see that as a positive. It is fast and non-disruptive to whatever I'm doing at the time. karen

Oh I know I never thought about that but I wouldn't be surprised if that is exactly what is going on. Its so frustrating when you get a virus. I had one back in August and my daughter was able to take care of it. She had to reformat my computer. I had to first buy a harddrive so she could transfer all my documents and pictures to it. I hope its all fixed.

I have had viruses many times and just the antivirus program isn't gonna protect it. I use avg and I like it a lot because it has detected more stuff that norton antivirus ever would but I still got a virus. Just make sure you keep updating and scanning your computer. When I got the viruses all I used was the free programs: spybot and malwarebytes antimalware and they cleared them right up :)

Well, I for one don't believe that virus protectors and makers are the same. Why would there be FREE antivirus programs then? I get along fine w/ the free programs. Nah, virus makers are 40 year olds living with there parents. The kids that always got picked on because they were geeks/creeps/stoners are trying to get revenge.

Hm.. For me they are the same they make a FREE anti-virus then they make new viruses that your FREE anti-virus cannot detect it so you will purchase there premium anti-virus.

It is SAD that the makes of the Antivirus programs cannot keep up with all of the many Virus's out there. And it is also a shame we cannot install more than one kind at anytime as well just to help keep us more safe as well. Personally I think that you have to be Super careful these days, even here in myLot and it is a shame that so many people want to harm us this way as well.

About this ,I think so ,I still remember ,when i have the first computer ,I meet the virus I don't know ,I always call my brother help me .but later my brother told me " this computer ,do what you want" if it meet virus ,at last you could install system.so I think he is right .from there ,I awlays reseach the computer ,now I think I know it enough .in my computer ,I have not instill any protection soft .I think the best protection soft is our brain ,so no matter what I meet virus .I 'll find out it in my computer and kill it ,I don't want to use any protection soft .the best protection soft is our brain and skill .not soft, and as well known .the virus is biggger and bigger ,and the protection soft can not kill the all the virus .but if we could learn how to kill the virus .so even withour protection soft ,we still could kill it
