How can you tell if a book is 1st edition?

im selling some books on bonanzle and it always asks if its first edition and one book seems really old but i have no clue on how to know if its first edition or not.. how can you tell? maybe some of mine are and will bring in more money!! whoo hoo!

Hi, moonlitmagikchild! I was told the way to tell a book is a first edition is to look at the numbers usually on the first or second page. If the numbers run from one to ten without other numbers, as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 it is a first edition. Also a lot of the newer books will say first edition, along with the number line. You might could also look online to try and find out through a search engine, or wikipedia. Hope this helps.

like you mean the 1-10 is printed in that page in the front with the info of like the publisher or something? sorry so late in replying lol its been a crazy month!
