Did you know.... that the greater than and smaller than character are reserved?

the greater than and smaller than characters - These characters are found on top of the comma and the full-stop keys on the keyboard.

I was typing out a discussion earlier when I kept encountering errors trying to post it. The error encountered was something like "Post only letters and number in your discussion...". Or something to that effect, cos I did not manage to copy down the error before the page was refreshed. Then I noticed that I was using the "greater than" character and the "smaller than" characters in my post as some form of brackets. If you do not know what I am referring to, I have attached a picture of it. These characters are found on top of the comma and the full-stop keys on the keyboard. It is only after I replaced them with the open and closed brackets that my discussion was successfully posted. Interesting... Anyone of you noticed it as well?
