yes i know a freind of turkey...i guess a chicken is a freind of turkey...which we eat everyday....

In fact, it is Turkiye. Some English missionaries visiting Turkiye in late 1800s, preferred to use a synonym for Turkiye as Turkey. This way, it was lot easier to write for them. There should be an extre "e" at the end of Turkey to correctly pronounce it as we Turks do! (Turkey-e):) Yes I'm from Turkey by the way!
