Rating positive and marking best response...

I just wonder if you are going to rate the person + will give you additional cent. Or if you rate that person -, you get deducted. Also, by choosing the best response to a discussion, will it also add cent to your account? By leaving the rate and best response blank, what is the impact on the user? What are the advantages and disadvantages between the two? Thank you guys in advance.

giving plus or best response will not give you extra cent and it is also not reducing your money. It is simply to conclude your discussion. When you create a discussion, you surely want to have answers to it. When other members already submit their answers, it is your turn to conclude it by choosing the best response, which response do you think is the best response to your discussion.

yeah i agree with that too... they have exerted an effort in responding to your discussion then as a reward you should pick the best response. So by that anyone will be encourage to do more with what they are doing now. It is a two way process...you get what you want and they should at least be given credit to what they did.

Thanks for the reply. What is the reward of that person whom you choose as the best response? What is the reward of that person of those you pick a positive rate?

All that MyLot tell us is that we are 'paid for our participation' and that the discussion rating system is 'factored into the earnings algorithm'. They give no indication that giving someone a positive (or negative) rating or giving a BR has any effect on our own earnings but it's likely that it does affect the earnings of the person rated. The Guidelines tell us not to discuss the earnings algorithm so what I say above is based entirely on what is said about it in the FAQs and elsewhere. My advice is to forget about the money and to make a habit of rating good discussions and responses positively and also of making sure that your own discussions and responses are of outstanding quality so that others will rate them positively as well. The only time that your own rating behaviour might reflect on you is when the system is abused. MyLot have a procedure which checks for abuse (though, naturally, they don't give details) and you can be sure that if your rating behaviour is seen to be in any way 'artificial' your activity will be noted and action will be taken.

Please do not be in a hurry to give a BR. A discussion has a life cycle which varies according to the quality of the discussion and various other things. It's best to leave a discussion for at least a week, often longer, until no more responses are forthcoming. Often you will find the best response comes some time after you posted the discussion. When creating a discussion, you should always consider in advance about how you are going to give a Best Response. Is it the kind of question which is likely to inspire many different answers? If it's just something like 'Do you like coffee or tea?' then it's hardly likely to encourage quality responses. Try to make your discussions more 'meaty' than that and it will not only be easier to choose a Best Response but it will also be a lot easier to keep your discussion 'in the air' by commenting on people's responses.

Of course, if a discussion has no responses, then there is nobody to be rated! It does sometimes happen that a discussion gets no responses. This is very often (but not always) because it may have been one that didn't merit any response but occasionally a good discussion topic 'slips through the net' and gets no responses. From time to time it's good practice to look through the discussions in the 'no response' tab to see if there is anything there that you can give a good response to. This helps you, of course, because you are paid for your participation (and you may well earn a BR or, at least, a rating point) but it also helps the person who started the discussion. MyLot is a community and involves doing a number of things which, although there may be no direct reward, serve to contribute to your status in the community. In the long run, this is beneficial.
