Businessman or Employee Forever

Sometimes I think being a businessman is a good ideas, but sometimes I think not. Realizing there is always a Good side and the Bad Side from it, make me confuse to take decision. I have two condition here: 1. Being a Businessman, of course you will earn a small profit (ex:$100) at the beginning of your own business and with unpredictable risk in the future. But we still have our own right to grow up our business. Chance will be 50% Success and 50% Failed. 2. Being an employer, take high salary every month (ex:$1000). But we still have risk to get fired. What do you think about these two option? What would you choose then? give me some reason why do you choose.

hello viewxyz, for me it'sjust fine to be employed for as long as they need me. at least i am receiving a monthly salary. more stable than a business. i probably go into business when i'm no longer working. this way, i have all the time to take charge of the business. indeed having a business is really like a gamble. there is ups and downs. should have extra money to make the business going till such time that it's already stabilize. what's hard in business is to start but once okey then it's time to harvest.

Yes no employee will rich and employment is not permanent there a possibility that you will going to be fired or you going to be lay off. Putting up a business is risky but if you can surpass all of the trials you can be successful after few years. I'm also want to start small business of my own because now a days employment is not forever.

Hi Robert19ph, Starting business is really not easy, especially at the beginning. Sure we have to trough many challenge and barrier because of that we need strange, mind and spirit, if we wait for "they don't need you" (I think they don't need us because, we don't productive anymore, in others word "we grow old") then I can say it "too late" to start our own business. I think business is not really like gamble, sure there is ups and downs but in gamble when we win we always loss, no gambler got rich except the "bos". For me it's about building our own empire. It's really hard at the beginning but just like what you said "once okey then it's time to harvest". Thanks for your opinion

I come from a very ordinary family and we have little money of our own. Whatever we have, I don’t want to risk it, specially in such difficult times. I’d rather be an employee as long as I can work and take home a fixed pay at the end of the month. I know I can be fired any time but then its OK…I can always look for another job. I have some extra cash stashed away in the bank specifically for this purpose.

Make sense, Previously I agree with you, being an employee and take home a fixed pay at the end of the month is a good decision too, when we got fired then we look for another jobs. But at the end, the First question is how long we can work? how long we can look for another jobs? we grow old isn't? I think this is the biggest hidden risk of being employee. and the Second Question is how long we can live from our "extra cash" when we are not an employee anymore? Thanks for your Opinion.

I think I would be a businessman. We do start out getting a low profit at first but then if the job succeeds, we earn more. Also, when working as an employer, they decide the schedules and vacation times. Some, will only give us 2 weeks when they want. In summers, what if we plan a family reunion and everyone plans to have it when our vacation doesn't start yet. That means we have to miss that years reunion. When we work as a businessman, we decide when when we have our vacation and for how long.

It's really hard to be an employee since your bound to the rules and regulation of your company. Your not holding your own time. But at this time I'd rather to be an employee since I don't have enough money to establish my own business. At this time I'm gonna work hard so I can save money. I'm gonna use my savings to establish a small business. I know that time will come that I can't work anymore so I have to be ready for that time. I need to have my own business before that time comes. So for me work today and own a business tomorrow.

Hi Earlzhan, Thank for your opinion, not holding our own time is one of my reason why I have to be a businessman.

Putting up a business is really risky. You don't know if it will earn or not. unlike if you are employed, you are sure that there is always money to be earned. but for me, no employee will be rich because the employee helps his employer to become richer and richer. It is the employer who will be rich, The employee will still remain employee. Just why my husband resigned from the bank and decided to put up a business and now it is in its 5th year and so far it is earning better. we have already meet our needs like car, house and lot and others. As long as you monitor the business, you will be successful just live within your needs. On my part because i see that the business is doing good, i decided to work to also save some money to put in the business.

Hi mafi0831, "no employee will be rich", I agree with you. This is the negative side of being an employee even we have a fixed income every month. I have the same case as your husband, been working from the office for couple of year, working very hard till I have a position in that office. But still I feel this is not the right way, keep thinking about my future next when I grow Old, "will they hire me anymore? and if not, what can I do?" Still I have no courage to start a business, seem like being an employee for couple of years make me feel comfortable and afraid to take risk. But still I have to choose. Thanks for your Opinion
