I was really pissed this morning when I cam in the office today. Our building has a common washroom in every floor which sits around 10 offices. Usually the maintenance people would clean them up before the start of the day so we expect the washrooms to be clean and presentable. Ever since some foreigners rented a few of the offices in our floor, we noticed that regardless what time of day, the washroom will always smell weird and most don't really flush! What's wrong with that???? I know Filipinos are known to be neat-freaks but isn't it everyone's common notion that whenever you use the toilet, you should flush it?? We have continually been complaining to management about them because they don't only know how to flush, they smoke in the staircases where smoking is forbidden in the building. Whew! Anyhow, do you find time relating to people in your building?

Hi, laydee. I really cannot understand why people do not flush the toilet even if it is properly working. Our building also has a common comfort room for several offices and there are times when I get exasperated when I go inside a cubicle and find it dirty. I really feel for the janitor. Admittedly, the CR is old but I know he scrubs it every morning. It's the people in the building who has a problem with keeping it clean. Aside from not flushing the toilet, one thing I hate most is people putting their used tissue papers on top of the covered trash can. I mean, who are they expecting to pick up those dirty tissues? Can't they just step on that thing on the trash can for it to open and then make sure that their dirty tissue papers are inside? They do not have to touch the thing with their hands if that's what they are afraid of. I'm ranting. Take care!

It happens everywhere there are unconcerned people using the toilet. It happens here in the apartment building where I live and where there is a common toilet. I always try to leave it clean everytime I use it by flushing and wiping the floor with the mop for the next one to use it. But when I come back to use it again I always find that there was someone who used it and left it unflushed and with the floor dirtied with his shoe prints. There are really people who I don't know if they're educated or brought up to be clean and considerate to other people but you still wonder why they act that way. They really get to your head! Do they know the saying: "don't do to others what you don't like others to do to you"?

Perhaps they were just in a rush too much that they feel they're not obligated to clean after themselves. I often wonder how these people live like at home, perhaps their toilet is infested with pests and such for not being cleaned. Ew! But yeah, it irks me when I do my best to be concerned about the next person to use the toilet but when it's time for me to use it, it's all filthy and unhygienic - not to mention unusable! Indeed, that's why it's called the Golden Rule: Don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you. A sure classic but still very much applicable today. Thanks for the thoughts, have a great mylot experience ahead!

I do not work and I live in a house but I do know what you mean. I have gone into a restroom in restaurant and the toilet was not flush. When you use a toilet in anyplace whether in a public place or at home people need to flush. It only takes about 2 seconds to do. I will never understand how people can be so disgusting and not flush a toilet. Maybe they need to go to a toilet flushing class.

hi laydee This is worse than anything that I can think of. I was working in a small company here about 3 years ago. I had went into the restroom and thought that I would choke before I could get out of their. Someone had a problem and they didn't use the fan or even the spray that was sitting there. Worse they didn't take the time to make sure the toilet was completely flushed. They probably couldn't stand the smell either and left in a hurry...LOL..But people need to take that second look before leaving the potty to make sure all is down..Have a great day and keep smiling laydee..

That's just the point there really. The facility is equipped with proper flushing system, water, exhaust fans, and even spray bottle of air freshener. Yet, some people just prefer to ignore everything and feel like they have a personal assistant for everything, even for flushing the toilet. But yeah, perhaps they couldn't stand their own smell that they couldn't wait but get out of there. Whew! Thank you for your response, have a great mylot experience ahead!

hello, I am also a bit of a neat freak and most specially when it comes to toilets. i don't people not flushing the toilet, most specially if it's a "poop". i can understand your frustration, from where these people come from, they're so lazy that they prefer janitors to flush the toilets for them and that is very sad and humiliating for us if they bring that attitude. maybe we should be the one saying now "that's not how it's done here" they usually say that to us when ever we are on their country..

I sympathize with you. Filipinos are generally clean people, and we are incredulous when other races are not as clean as we are. Yes, our hygiene standards are a wee bit higher than most, but like you, I just cannot fathom why people do not flush the toilet after they have done the deed. Are they trying to save water by being stinky? However, this is not only true for foreigners. Filipino men are also guilty of this. Reporting it to management is the best thing you can do.

Hi there, I didn't mean to generalize all foreigners with the matter. I was just suspecting that those people who moved in our building were the ones making the toilets dirty because we've been there for over 5 years and never was it any problem prior to their arrival. I think I was right because after they left - perhaps the business wasn't as good they had hoped - the toilets were clean again. hehehe.. Yeah, indeed there are filipino men who don't have the hygiene as well. But I think regardless how unhygienic you are at home, you'd surely flush and make sure that the stench is out there before someone else sees it, right? But oh well, perhaps that's not really a general idea after all. Thanks for the response, have a great mylot experience ahead!

Almost anyone knows to flush it, unless he's unable to do it because the toilet damage.
