What's the worst accident that ever happened to you as a kid ?

Most of us have good memories of our childhood, but somewhere there had to be a little something that's upset us and that we'll hardly forget. What's yours ? As for me, my worst memory and accident involved glue (the super attack kind of glue that's used to glue together hard things and dries in a few seconds, you know the ones for which ads show how string it can be...) It was about 7pm and I had just come back home since I had been playing all day with my friends. I was 9 or 10, I remember being at primary school so I couldn't be older than 10 and I was wearing a white t-shirt with a kangaroo printed on (you even remember details). I didn't know what to do: my sister was too little to play with me, my parents were at work and grannie was cooking, so I browsed into a closet and found the glue with which I thought I'd repair one of my dolls. I tried to put glue on the broken part of my doll but it wouldn't come off the tube, so I kooed inside it and some glue went straight to my right eye. I went to the bathroom and tried to clean it off, but the glue had already dried and my eye was just covered in a layer of hard dried glue. I started to cry and shout untill grannie opened the door, heard about what happened and started to freak out. By that time my parents arrived home and my mom fainted. They took me to the hospital and the doctor cut my eyelashes and opened my eyelids ... it was a looong process and I was lucky enough that I didn't lose my eye because the glue didn't enter my eye. I still get the shivers when I think about it eheh

...Hi nagikka, You were blessed when you had that accident, it could have been so much worse. When I was younger, I was pretty much accident free. There was an incident when my cousin was riding me on the back of his bicycle, and he was riding very fast and I got scared that we might turn over. He would not stop, so I being stupid, jumped off the bicycle and fell on a piece of glass and cut my leg. That is the only accident, caused by me jumping off the bicycle, that I can remember happening when I was younger. Oh I just thought of one other incident, I burned myself with an iron, while ironing my clothes, had the scar for a long while, has disappeared now. Take care.

Hi aristry: you're right, that was a blessing of god what keeps nagikka in a good state after this eye accident. Most people can say they passed for this with no physical sequels. It seems that we both have accidents on wheels. Lol. XD.

The worst accident I had when I was a kid, was when I fell on a tree and broke my elbow, went to the hospital 12kilometers far away from our home and when we came to the hospital I had an excruciating agony while waiting for the doctor to attend to me, because that time also was so busy at the hospital and I had to wait for my turn. Accidents do really happen especially when you are a kid. I suggest you live to a place near with a Hospital so that when accidents happen, you are sure that there is a hospital near.

I was 14 and my 2 sisters and 2 of our friends went to a river to swim. We'd been there plenty of times so it wasn't anything new. The last time I went the river began rising and the water started rushing and I was in the middle of the river. The dams flood gates had been opened and they didn't sound the siren until about 5 minutes after doing so. I got pushed down river and I panicked at first and tried swimming back to the others but kept getting pulled under. I remembered to not swim against the current and got myself turned around and somehow made my way to the bank. Needless to say I never went back in that river.

Oh my goodness Nagikka, that sounds horrible. I guess one of the worst things that happened to me as a kid was getting hit by a car. I was leaving church (actually Young People's Meeting), and usually I would meet up with my brother afterwards and we would walk home together. This particular day, I couldn't find my brother, so I thought he was being ornery and took off without me. The church bus was sitting in front of the church, and kind of made the view obscure. I looked, but didn't see this car that was speeding down the road. Luckily, I wasn't hurt too badly. My uncle came out of the church, and picked me up. He carried me to his truck, and got me to my house where my Mom was getting ready to leave for evening church. They took me to the hospital and had xrays done. I just had a lump on my head, and a big place on my right knee.

I had to be in my bed for a week.

OMG, that is really scarey! No wonder you remember even the small details. I would totally freak if that happened to either of my girls. Wow! The worst accident I had as a kid also involved the eyes. When it is one of your main senses I think you remember it more. I was about 15 years old and playing softball. The manager of the park had just put out the white line they use to mark the diamond, and I was fielding a ground ball. My glove got the white dust all over it, and the next ball that came to me was a fly ball. When I caught the ball the dust got in my eyes, and I couldn't see anything. My dad drove me to the hospital, and it turned out I had multiple cuts on both corneas. I had to wear sunglasses, even inside, for about 2 weeks.

Ouch, remind me not to do that!!! The worst accident I ever had was probably when I cut my ankle sneaking into the Christmas presents.

I was 3 years old; it was Mother's day and my mum was just recovering from a bout of flu so really could've done without my accident. My dad's cousin was teasing me and I picked up the coal shovel and raised it as if to hit him. The shovel was a single piece of metal and where the handle was formed there was a "V" shaped hollow. The shovel slipped and my finger slipped into the "V" so the shovel was just hanging off my finger. Mum managed to remove it (the shovel ) Dad was working but happened to be passing our house and heard me screaming. Whilst he went to borrow a vehicle from his boss I stood with my hand in a bowl of dilute Dettol watching the water change from white to red. I threw up on the way to the casualty department and came home with 5 stitches. I remember we stopped at the local shop on the way home to get mum a card and some chocolates. I was very proud of my stitches and still have the scar disgonally across the tipof my index finger. I'd sooner have a cut finger than a super-glued eye I think

There was one time my mom did told me that I almost went into an accident that could caused my life. I was 2 back then and our house was kinda near the streets. My brother is the one told my dad to look after me while he goes take care of something. To my dad`S surprise I was gone and he came looking after me because my brother who was 7-years-old back then, fall asleep. My parent was totally surprise when my neighbor save me from crossing the street at my little young innocent age. I couldn`t imagine myself like that when I was little. Good thing I still had my chance to live in this world until now.

I am not really that active of a kid because i am the shy, fragile type of a girl. though i can be very active when i needed to, i still prefer to be calm and easy most of the time that is why i don't get into too much accidents. the worst thing that happened to me therefore was not because of my being too active. when i was young i love going up and down the stairs for exercise and i can do it without holding the rails so it's a shock when i slipped and had a huge wound on my leg from crawling on the stairs. yes i crawled and I slipped, weird i know! i still have the scar on my leg and it does not go away. it always remind me of my stupidity i guess because i can go up and down the stairs normally but i didn't and crawled instead for a reason i don't know. now i end up having a very huge scar..

When i was a kid i love running around almost everywhere. One time i was in the school and it was break time period. I was running towards the circle ground when all of a sudden i was hit by another student taller than me because he was running opposite my direction and he did not notice me as well. I end up in the hospital with 6 stitches on my upper lip. Good thing it left a little scar only and it's almost unnoticeable. :)
