I am so excited! I got tickets to an advanced screening of "The Stepfather" tonight October 15, 2009! We are going in about 2 hours and then going to get some dinner afterwards. The best part is that the tickets were free! The movie stars Dylan Walsh from nip/tuck and is a remake of the 1987 movie. I am hoping to get to see more of the advance screenings too. So, does anyone else here on myLot go to advance screenings of movies too? I get so excited to go to the movies and to get a freebie so this combination makes my day! I just wish it was Friday night but that's ok I am happy enough just to get this! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!

That is so cool! I'm answering from my e-mail, so I can't see if you told us what you thought of the movie. I was reading about the movie in a magazine this afternoon. It was talking about the original version, and the guy Terry O'Quinn who is on LOST played the part Dylan Walsh is playing this time. So what did you think? Anything for free sounds good to me. : ) I've never been to an advanced screening.

Anything for free sounds great for me too! It was a pretty good movie. I think I would give it a solid "B" rating. It had a pretty good ending. I just went to another screening tonight - "This Is It". That was an excellent movie and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

I want to see that movie. It starts today and I told my hubby I wanted to go see it but we won't be able to go tonight because we have other plans already. Maybe we will get to see it soon though. I've never had tickets to an advanced screening of a movie before. How did you get them? And did you like the movie?

I got them from our local newspaper. They sent me an e-mail asking I was interested in attending, I filled out the form and they mailed them to me. I liked it pretty much. I think I would have waited to see it as a rental though... Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

I won tickets to an advance screening to a movie many, many years ago, before marriage or kids. It was so long ago I can't even remember the name of the movie. I know it had something to do with prison but, for the life of me, I can't remember it. I do remember that the radio station who ran the contest to win these tickets did a promotional stunt in front of the movie theater that night. They had one of the disc jockeys dressed in a black and white striped prison costume. He was brought in by police car and taken, handcuffed, from the car to a small cage set up out front. They told me they were going to do this (I knew these guys well from winning so many of their contests) ahead of time so I bought a small cake and a large file. I put the file into the cake so part of it was sticking out and, with icing, wrote "Find file here" with an arrow pointing to the file. Outside the box, I wrote "Acme Cake Company. Contents: one cake, one file." When the disc jockey was put in the cage, I ran up, begging the police to please allow me to give him the cake I had made for him, so he took it and opened the box. They all got such a big kick out of that cake and took a picture which they posted at the station. It was such fun! I THINK I remember liking the movie quite a lot but I definitely remember what went on before the movie.

That sounds hilarious! I just love getting these free tickets to these movies. I just got back from seeing "This Is It" for free tonight. The theater was packed and it was great from beginning to end. If you like Michael Jackson I would definitely recommend seeing it! As far as "The Stepfather" is considered it was an ok movie but I think I would wait to rent it or for it come to Pay Per View or cable. It was not a bad movie but it wasn't Academy Award material either. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

I never been to an andvanced screening myself, I wouldn't mind going to one. Sounds like fun. I think I would get a little natural high off of knowing that I'm getting to see a film befor a lot of other movie goers. I also liked the original of stepfather, the other two were alright, just not as good as the first. In my opinion. Hope you start an discussion of spoilers about the film!! Also, I know you said you got the tickets for free, how does one get advance screening tickets?

We got them from our newspaper. We subscribe and they sent us an e-mail invitation to it. We just got back from seeing the new Michael Jackson concert film, "This Is It". I love getting these tickets too. Anything free is great to me! Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

Ever since I saw the first previews of "The Stepfather", I have wanted to see it. I remember watching the 1987 film. I enjoyed it since thrillers are my favorite movie genre. Still, this new Stepfather movie looks very intriguing. I've always liked Sela Ward and she is in this movie. This remake looks to be even better than the 1987 version. I can not wait until the movie is playing in my area. I am definitely going to see it!

I think it was better than the 1987 film myself. I enjoyed it and it had a really good ending. I think though that if I had the choice I would watch this as a rental rather than going to the theater to see it. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

Definitely not my kind of movie (I saw the previews) but I hope you have a great time! It looks scary and creepy and getting to see it for free is terrific! I can't wait till November--I'll actually spend money to go see 2012. It's about the earth coming to an end, look like a spectacle of special effects and lots of action.

It was a pretty good movie. And the price was just right! It was actually not as creepy as I thought it was going to be. Not really that many gross scenes at all. Oh I really want to see that new movie you mentioned - "2012". I sure do hope that the world does not end in 2012 like everyone is saying it will. I do know one thing though - that looks like it will be a great movie with a bunch of special effects. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

I saw it and I thought it was a mediocre movie to be honest with you. It was ok, not horrible, but I don't think it will be winning any Academy Awards either. Congratulations on getting to see it for free though! That's great!
