interracial couple not able to marry

A Justice of the peace, or a judge said he would not marry an interracial couple, They are thinking of filing a discrimination suit..do you think he has the right to not marry them? He never said they couldnt get married, he just said he wouldnt do it.
What do you think?

it just goes to show how ignorant some people really are regardless of their supposed social standing .. i dont think they should file a lawsuit but i do think they should take it to the media outlet and let everyone know what type of person they are voting in as judge.. can he give someone a fair trial if he is this racist and he cant claim that he isnt because he is refusing to marry them..has he refused to marry any non interracial couple?? if i were them i would get married by someone else and send the judge a wedding photo... lol

You should be a shamed of yourself thinking that people that are against interracial marriage are racists.
YOU should be ashamed of yourself for living in the 50s still....did you ever stop to think of what damage would be done to the couple and any children they have if the parents are REFUSED marriage becuase they are different races?

wow exactly how did this get turned around on me?? my neice happens to be in an interracial couple and has 2 children... yes this person is a racist.. who is he to decide who a person can or can not marry.. is he the faher of the bride or the the groom and isnt it funny how you just ASSUME that the groom is black and not the bride hmmmm .. i have several friends who are also interracial couples and i sent them this and amazingly enough they seem to think the judge is also a RACIST so please dont sit there and act like i did something wron i stated my opinion even if you dont like it or agree with it .. if i was accused of doing something wrong and had to go before a judge i would like to know before hand if he didnt like women or blonds or tattoos or green eyes... he is a judge.. not god

This is very sad and wrong. The justice should loose his job, licence or whatever, who gave him the right to decide who people will marry. I'm in a interracial, intercultural, international marriage, I'm British and my hubby is Japanese and I am glad nobody told us we couldn't get married. We have together for 20 something years now, got married in Mississippi by the way!!! It is tough, especially here in Japan, people are rather narrow minded but not rude, in the UK it is okay and accepted, both of our families are happy. Only once in a small shop somewhere in Alabama did I get at mouthful of nasty comments, I was looking for a photo frame and showed the photo to the shop assistant who told me I was going against God and the Bible for marrying a Jap, (and some other words ehich aren't said in polite company!). Even though that was years ago it still hurts to think people can be so small minded.
I hope this couple gets married and that they are happy!!

Ha, you haven't seen my husband....he is very dark. When we visiting my home afew years back a lot of my parents Indian friends started to speak to him in Indian, he really looks more Indian than Japanese!!!
I think interracila marriages are beautiful and the children form these marriages are wonderful.

ABSOLUTELY!! I'm a child of an interracial couple as are my kids and we have the best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned..

Wow, what a thread. Such hostility.
I have interracial nieces and nephews in my family, on my side and my husbands side. I am not sure what these kids consider themselves to be racially or if the topic has even come up.
My brothers son, who just turned 10 this summer, is one of the handsomest young men I have seen recently. He is intelligent and talented. He can sing and play piano and takes gifted classes in school. He is mature, bright, confident.
When people get to know him, I don't see how anyone can ever say there is anything wrong with interracial marriages or children.
To go off on a tangent, maybe it would make people healthier. I am going to discuss dogs in this mix and compare the human race to dogs so no one take offense. But a good breeder goes out of their way to get a quality dog to bring in a new blood line. Maybe this is what is happening with children of interracial marriages.
