Recently, I read an English inspiring message about facing challenges. The piece described athletes with mental disabilities. Despite their disadvantages, they faced and overcame their challenges. I admire their courage. In fact, everyone may face the difficulities and ups and downs are common in our life. So, if you have met the adversity, How can you change your attitude towards it? What will you do to face it? At last, how to face the adversity with a smile? Waiting for your reply. Enjoy a good time here.

I heard Michael Jackson singing ‘Smile’ the other day and I had thoughts about the difference between meeting challenges in life with tears and a frown compared to a smile. “Smile, though your heart is aching Smile, even though it's breaking When there are clouds in the sky You'll get by... If you smile” How hard is it to do? I don’t know if I am right but I figured that if your force yourself it may, over time become a habit and as the song goes, “You'll find that life is still worthwhile if you'll just...smile Light up your face with gladness Hide every trace of sadness Although a tear may be ever so near That's the time you must keep on trying Smile, what's the use of crying You'll find that life is still worthwhile If you'll just...Smile…” Life dishes out hardships sometimes such as illness and disabilities and we have no choice but to meet those challenges or we may as well give up on life. The way I see it, we may as well work hard with a lighter heart and we may be surprised what we can achieve.

It's true and that is why I really love that song especially how M.J. used to sing it and now that he is gone it has become even more meaningful...

I laugh and smile and enjoy the few friends I have made here, this and mylot keep me sane in a place I d o not really want to be but haveto. my son lost his job, he and I lived together, I was retired, and we ran out of money, were evicted, became homeless so he put me here so I would have a place to live and he got help from the gov. to get into an apartment so he would have a place to lived while he hunted for a job. not what either of us wanted but had to be so best to smile and enjoy each day .

Hi Hatley, you are a very strong person.. I learn a lot with the words that you said. It is really inspiring. I wanted to tell you that with the thing you said about being homeless and living in Gold Crest made me think that there are people who won't just give up with such trials instead, they make life more worth living and there is always hope. You showed me that life doesn't stop there, there are things to do and one of which is to have fun with life and be productive like what you are doing here in mylot. owwww.. I would like to be your friend! God Bless you!

I think you have to have some thought how to deal with a problems or adversity. It is not the problem ,it is how you deal with it.Having brought up three kids all different ,you have to face things not hide away from them.If it is adversity something that won't get any better or change, courage is whats needed, being single minded and the need not to let anything stop you from doing what you want to do.I hold a lot of admiration for these disabled athletes. They seem to have more courage then most of us put together. They put them selves out there and that takes some guts. They seem to have so much confidence I always think to myself stop moaning and have a go.

hello getbrowser, I agree with you, these people exist so that they would remind us not-different-abled people that all things are possible if we are so determine to do it. i envy them sometimes, so determined and motivated because they feel they need to compete and prove themselves all the time. I hope i can be that person some day, some one that has passion and determination

Hello getbrowser. Attitude describes the nature of a person. As u described an Athlete should over come his mental disabilities. If some thing misfortune happens, I would firstly think what are the mistakes I did , then i would try to rectify mistakes .

Hi getbrowser! There are situations in life that are extremely unfavorable on our part. Difficulties and trials might get in and theres nothing we can do but to face and accept it as a challenge. Facing adversity with a smile is like a putting your worries behind and taking it as challenge, it is indeed another problem but it could be something that will make you stronger and a better person. For God will not let us face such trials that we are not bound to solve by ourselves. There is always adversity in life, and with a simple smile some of your negative feelings may fade away because you're being positive about it, that there is always a way to resolve it..

right now, i am looking at my 4 year old son arguing with my mother about his homework. that puts a smile on my face. since my life is very grim right now, full of problems and stuff, that only thing that makes me smile is the happy face of my son. with my husband somewhere "out there", my son is the only one that gives me strength to face each passing day. happy mylotting.

I do not know if everyone can smile while struggling with a difficult situation. may be one will forget to put on a smile. best way is to be natural in one's behaviour. determination to see that one wins helps overcome a difficult situation. when one is happy the smile appears from nowhere. but not all smiles represent happiness.

My strategy of facing adversity is: Imagine the good it could harbinger. Think of write down all that could be calssified as good and resulting because of this adversity. Think of how you faced it the last time. Take it as a challenge to do better. Try and find someone who is in a greater adversity than this and honestly commiserate with him/her, anf take it that you how you could reduce theirs! Every one of these will enrich us.

Well, I have seen a lot of athletes who have disabilities too and they all look pretty amazing. Thus, I could see even a man with no legs and yet could swim then they have their own love life too which may be an impossible feat to do even in those normal person. Because many of these handicapped person never lose hope and make their own disabilities as an inspiration to persevere so that they would not become a burden to the society but an important parts for being productive. Although, they may be limitation they never stop to prove to the world that they have something to share which every one of us could be proud to and that is the ability to use his talents and skills despite of their disabilities. For me I face my adversity with smile, not thinking of it as a failure but as an added challenges to become better person than anyone else.

Life is to short to dwell on adversity and when it comes and you feel the need to be down it's okay but never be stocked on that situation or state of feeling. There are so many things that we need to appreciate about life that will make us smile and happy. You're right "special kid" who are physically and mentally challenged are struggling so much in life but they have their unique way of managing their disabilities and by doing so they even inspire us and make us smile! At this point in my life i don't have enough strength for any drama in life... i better work on how things will get better and what is my role to make my family and other people happy because seeing them happy that's what makes me smile and happy even amidst adversity and depression. As long as i have my husband and kids i can always face adversity with a SMILE!
