Without a cellphone? hmmm.. You mean to say someone will text(sms) you using their mobilephone and you'll receive it thru your email? That is possible as long as their phones are internet ready(well obviously). What I know is you could send sms using your computer to a mobile phone for free. Like me, if I don't have a load (because I'm using a prepaid phone) I just ran to my pc and text my buddies online. Sites such as chikka.com and even yahoo.com can do that. There are so many sites who provide free services like depending on your location or country. But if you really like to receive sms in to your computer there is a servive here in our country (Philippines) who do that. We have Globe Tattoo Prepaid kit. Its a broadband that you could use for surfing the net at the same time people can text you while you are on the computer, because they provided a mobile phone number which is already included in the kit. So in your desktop there is an icon where you could receive an sms.

hi crystallight, I am from India and Indian cell phone servoce providers dont let you sms or text message to emails but i have heard american call phone providers let you send sms ( text message) to the emails and if you have unlimited message plans then they wont charge you for that. So AT&T, T mobile, all tell , and all other allow it. So if your friend is in usa or any country where cell phone providers allow sms to email then you can send and receive sms ( text ) for free.
