Do you really need a guest room?

A friend of mine just bought a new house. She insisted that it needs to have a spare bedroom to use as a guest room, even though that really stretched her budget. My point was that whe only has people staying over maybe once or twice a year. Is it really worth paying for a guest room for that? Or could you expect the guests to sleep on an inflatable bed in the living room?

If you have a couch then you already have a guest room. But if you have the room and the furniture then there's no harm in having a real guest room. I have my old furniture from when I was little that lives in what I guess you would call our guest room. And if we were to buy a new bed then the old one would probably go inhabit another empty bedroom. If we didn't already have the extra furniture then we wouldn't worry about it though.

We have two extra bedrooms at out place now. It is nice to have a extra room for friends or family when they come to visit.
