http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE59E5H720091018 I deeply resent this. I heard about it and prayed like crazy for the little boy to be safe, I worried about him and nearly cried thinking of how terrified he must be. Then someone said they thought they saw something fall out of it. I went through a bit of stress with this hoax, believing it to be true. How many of you were worried for this little boy, prayed for him? Do you feel resentful toward the father for doing this?

I have to say I sat rooted to my seat watching the events unfold during this story, worried sick about a little boy possibly flying willy-nilly in a shabbily crafted air balloon that was about to crash at great speed. Then when I heard that the little boy had potentially fallen out of the balloon before it landed, I was sick with worry that he was alone, hurt and afraid. As the story unfolded, and it became clear that this was possibly a hoax, all the brainchild of the father and blamed on the child, I became angry. I was angry that so many of the community's resources were wasted on something so unnecessary, something that was all for publicity. Folks, we have enough going on in our society that needs reform and publicity and outrage, and this father comes along to continue to his 15 minutes of fame. As if being on Wife Swap, TWICE, wasn't enough! We have serious problems in our world, and I am so angry that this father wasted our time and energy when we have serious problems to solve.

I've never watched the show, but he was on TWICE?! That guy and his wife need to get over themselves and realize there are other people in the world that are as or more important than they are. They could start with truly caring about their children.

Tandmunlimited, I could hardly believe it--how could they exploit that poor child?! A 6 yr old only does what their parents tell them to, they are controlled. I'm ashamed of that magazine, but someone else would've done it if they didn't. Sad comment on our nation.

This is one of those occasions that I think the child should be removed from the home!!! The mother has the look of a battered wife. The children are being taught that is OK to lie in order to get what they want. They have already been in 2 reality shows. What did they do with the money they earned from them??? I know desperate times call for desperate measures, but this is ridiculous!!! Plus the daddy is so freaking arrogant.

I think dad will be headed to prison with 2 felony offenses and at least one misdemeanor. Don't know about the mom but she sure needs some parenting classes!

I'm not sure about that, Marissa. The two of them met in acting school so they are both people with big egos and an obsessive need for attention. How sad.

Now they are saying there may be a 3rd felony charge plus they are pushing for federal charges for calling in a hoax to the FAA. One report said they may be required to pay back the $2 million in expenses created by the hoax. Get the dad out of the picture & I think the mother will do better!!! He doesn't allow her to think for herself. The entire family revolves around him!!!

I too was hoping the little boy was okay. This event is getting quite a bit of media attention, I know that everyone is presummed innocent until proven guilty, but if his dad did this intentionally then he should be prosecuted for it. Alot of people were involved in the effort to rescue the boy and fell victim to this hoax .

The parents really took advantage of people. But as another person said, our prayers were answered even if the child was in no danger. That's a good thing! From what I've read, I think the husband abuses the wife. A sheriff saw broken blood vessels in her eye and a mark on that same cheek. She claimed her contact lenses were troubling her. The sooner those boys are separated from the dad, the better off they might be.

My son and I were discussing it. We both agreed that at the age of six he would have actually been on that balloon. In fact, he would have been standing on top of it as it was floating through the air. He was half the size of that kid when he was six. He was also a total daredevil and even scared a motorcycle driving tough guy. LOL I think whatever they can get this guy and his wife on they should. I'd be going through all the possible charges to throw at him.

I think a parenting class is definitely a must for these parents. Particularly one on responsible parenting.

I'm of two minds. I don't want the boys to lose their parents but what kind of parents are they?! The balloon also may have destroyed a wheat crop with all the chasing, etc. http://blog.beliefnet.com/crunchycon/2009/10/heene-boys-jonbenet-meets-jack.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/17/balloon-boy-resuers-destr_n_324706.html

I was very worried about the boy. I have to say I was concerned for his safety right off the bat. When I heard the news the next day that he was found in the attic I was baffled. I could not understand why they would pull such a publicity stunt.

Some people are so publicity and fame hungry I think they'll do anything. These people will probably go to prison and their boys will be changed forever. What jerks.

I think they will. While I feel bed that the kids might lose their parents to prison time, they might be better off in a more stable home where their safety is the first consideration. I think with at least 2 felonies and one of them federal, they'll be doing prison time.

hi dragon54u yes I got really caught up in this worrying that the boy would be killed, now it seems just a publicity 'stunt and the kid gave away the parent's part in this so the parents could get a big fine or worse. they should be ashamed using that little boy that way. that is sure rotten parenting, to make the kid hide and all. Shame on them both.

Sad thing is that those boys will probably lose their parents because they're talking about prison time. How selfish they were! I hope the boys will be okay.

i prayed for him. i think that this is just sad. i don't get the parents in this story. they are suppose to be teaching their kids right from wrong and here they are getting them to lie. when it first camed out that the whole thing was made up i didn't want to beleive it, but then once it was confirmed i was angry and a little sad. i don't see how anyone could drag their own kids into something like this, then to have them on national tv. i mean what was the parents thinking? i know if anything were to happen to any of my kids like that the first thing i would have done was call 911, and not some news station. then to have them up there saying that they ( the parents ) didn't make up anything was just crazy, i mean they couldn't remember 9 1 1 but had a news station number down pack. this is a sad story.

Now, I understood calling the news station--if you want a chopper in the air ASAP, you call the bloodthirsty vultures at your local news. If they go to prison they'll have changed their boys' lives forever. What jerks!

In all honesty, I don't think the father has any more common sense then his children. I strongly believe the parents of the boy should be penalized for filing a false emergency report with 911. It was a waste of time, energy, effort, and most importantly it was a waste of taxpayers money for the ambulances, and police to have to run all over just to rescue a boy who didn't need to rescued at all. The parents should be fined and serve jail time for the Hoax they caused.

The father and mother have both been trying to get a reality show starring their family and this was a bid to get a contract signed. It backfired, and the people backed out. This dad took his family in the middle of Hurricane Ike! He doesn't hesitate to put them in danger for the sake of publicity. He should be in prison and the mother, too.

I knew it was a hoax when they said the family appeared on Wife Swap. The other family that appeared on the show with them had the same gut feeling. It's a shame. A lot of people were worried about the boy. Little children get kidnapped all across the United States and is no joking matter. I hope the family is severely punished.

So far, they've committed 2 felonies and one misdemeanor. The felonies are federal offenses so I doubt that they can escape prison time. I feel sorry for the boys, though.

I'm glad to hear that so many were praying for the boy. I'm also happy that he's safe! But the parents need to be punished and their influence removed from the children.

I resent what his father did. He did not think of the consequences of his actions. His son will forever be known as the "balloon boy". What a pity!
